Today, we were proud to release the findings from our recent NSW Women in Construction Program Industry Survey. The survey data builds on last year’s inaugural survey and will help to further develop the Program’s understanding of challenges relating to culture and diversity on NSW construction sites. The latest survey received over 1,000 responses, with the top challenges reported by men and women being: ⚖ Lack of work-life balance (62%) 🕔 Lack of flexible work hours (51%) 🛠 Insufficient mentoring and leadership training (47%). These results highlight the importance of ongoing work to improve work-life balance in the industry to support employee retention. View the full report: https://lnkd.in/gWPij5rs

Construction of the New Sydney Fish Market is progressing with the promenade stairs structures nearing completion. The curved, sweeping staircases that surround the building are a key design feature that will: 🍣 allow visitors easy access from the promenades to the upper ground level 🌞 create new public spaces for meeting and gathering ⛵ double as seating with integrated decks and seats with stunning water views of Blackwattle Bay 🎭 rival the Sydney Opera House stairs. Building the staircases is a complex and lengthy process due to the precision of measurements required when pouring concrete into the beams to create the intricate, curved formwork - over 30,000 cubic metres of concrete will be used for the entire project! The northern promenade will also unlock a 15km continuous foreshore walk from Woolloomooloo to Rozelle Bay, creating one of the world’s longest and scenic waterfront walks. #NewSydneyFishMarket #NSWGovernment #INSW Multiplex NSW Government

Thanks to the team at the Bradfield Development Authority for hosting the Infrastructure NSW Board for a site visit last week. The Board also toured areas critical to the delivery of the Aerotropolis, announced by the NSW Government as a key priority in expanding Infrastructure NSW’s responsibilities as Infrastructure Co-ordinator General. This expanded remit will ensure infrastructure investment is targeted, and infrastructure delivery is coordinated. #Aerotropolis #BradfieldCityCentre #WesternSydneyAirport #InfrastructureInvestment

Earlier this month a tandem crane lift was undertaken for the first time on the Powerhouse Parramatta project. Using two or more cranes at the same time to lift a single load is a complex activity in the construction industry requiring great skill, careful planning and methodology to ensure safety at all times. In this instance, it was required because the weight load of the overall lift at 69.5 tonnes exceeded Tower Crane 2’s lifting capacity, and therefore Tower Crane 3 was recruited to share the load. Construction has started on the first 2 regional solar farms in Hay and Moama, as part of Barangaroo’s $48 million Green Product Purchase Agreement. This long-term commitment will help secure Barangaroo’s longstanding aspiration of being a Climate Positive precinct by: 🌍 securing Barangaroo’s carbon neutral future, as the first long-term agreement of its kind 🌞 allowing Barangaroo’s grid-supplied electricity to be treated as renewable energy 💡 ensuring the supply of Renewable Energy Certificates (green products) at a fixed rate, unlike previous market-based purchases 🌱 supporting long-term green energy infrastructure in regional NSW 🏗️ generating approximately $20 million in construction activity 👷 creating around 130 jobs during the building phase.
