Last week, Innovation Bay headed to Brisbane to team up with QIC for a dynamic morning spent with the VCs and accelerators of the QIC managed Venture Capital Development Fund (VCDF), associated VC ecosystem members and talented industry experts 🚀🤩 With initiatives like VCDF in full swing, we’re thrilled to see the rapid growth of early-stage companies across Queensland. We took a deep dive into the future of talent, exploring strategies to build a sustainable talent pipeline that supports the state's thriving startup ecosystem. The morning kicked off with insights from experienced friends in the US, Peter Clarke (Accel) and Greg Russell (Cover Genius), in conversation with Aurora member, Georgia Barkell (Sprint Ventures). From there, we moved into dynamic breakout sessions, where we tapped into the collective wisdom from those within the program, as well as some awesome industry experts who joined us - Holly Hunt, Sorcha Joyce, Bec McIntosh, Luis Wilson, and Helena Turpin It was an inspiring day of learning, networking, and driving Queensland’s entrepreneurial ecosystem forward!

Introducing Hadean Energy, the second of six incredible start ups presenting at the fifth annual Innovation Bay x Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) Renewables Startup Showcase 👏🤩🚀 Hadean Energy, a Melbourne-based CSIRO spin-out, is advancing green hydrogen and e-fuels with its tubular Solid Oxide Electrolyser (tSOE), which operates up to 30% more efficiently than traditional electrolysers. This high-performance technology lowers electricity requirements, reducing costs for green hydrogen and e-fuels. Hadean’s solution supports decarbonisation in hard-to-abate sectors like steelmaking and ammonia production, and enables low-cost syngas for shipping and aviation. Backed by CSIRO and RFC Ambrian, Hadean is rapidly commercialising, securing grants and preparing for a megawatt-scale demonstration in Australia. Last week, the Innovation Bay team came together in the stunning Central Coast for a two-day quarterly off-site which was packed with reflection, relaxation, and strategic planning 🧘♀️🤗🌊 As a remote first team, getting all together in one room doesn't happen as often as we'd like so times like these are really special for us. Our quarterly off-site's are designed to bring us all together to: 🚀 Talk purpose and strategy as we close out an epic year 🥳 celebrate the wins from an epic few months (which included a recent birthday for Eleanor Salt) ♟️ reflect and strategise for continued growth Our time together was filled with laughs, sunrise walks, beach swims, lots of learning, strategic planning, a few wines and a very intense couple of rounds of Warewolf! A big thank you to Todd Forest, IB friend and Aurora alumni member, who joined us on day 1 of our off-site to provide invaluable member insight in our strategic sessions.
