'States of GIS' - last week I was at the Tasmanian version and yesterday attended the Victorian version. Two great events, with a wide variety of topics and excellent presenters. Well done Geospatial Council of Australia.

The first in our series of Insight GIS's Spatial Forum's was a huge success earlier this week. A big thank you to our presenters and attendees. The forum provided an excellent opportunity for all of those in attendance to learn from the experience of others. The feedback has been extremely positive. We are already planning the next one! If you were unable to attend but would like to learn how our spatial data solutions could benefit you, the Forum is now available to watch here: https://lnkd.in/gm-cAwKG

As we look ahead to the future, it is clear that GIS will continue to play a crucial role in shaping our understanding of the world and guiding our decision-making processes. With advancements in technology and the increasing availability of spatial data, the potential for GIS applications is expanding at an unprecedented rate. (Yes I know its March) But here we explore four aspects of GIS we can look forward to in 2024. https://lnkd.in/gzT6k7HQ

GIS continues to transform how we understand and interact with the world around us. However, despite its effectiveness, many organisations keep GIS at arm's length, seeing it as complex and hindering its integration. I am privileged to be joining other experts to address the opportunities and challenges within GIS. Please click the link below to register for the “GIS: Unlocking Its Ubiquity” Event on Wednesday March 6th | 11am AEDT. https://lnkd.in/euttB9Em I look forward to seeing you there.

Rob was recently part of Spatial Source’s Leaders Forum and asked to discuss the topics that will matter most to the geospatial sector in 2024. “Our customers are wanting geospatial solutions that are easy to implement and manage. They are looking for licensing models that are thin and without a host of modules. IT and GIS staff are time poor, without the pressure of overly complex geospatial solutions.” https://lnkd.in/gif5A3Et

Great to catch up this morning in Dublin with Richard Garry from Gamma.ie - discussing location based services and location intelligence. Gamma are the leading solution provider of LBS and LI to the insurance, banking and retail sectors in Ireland. Always enjoying sharing ideas with the likes of Richard and others in other countries where geospatial technologies and their applications can differ for a range reasons - customer requirements, technology drivers, data sources, compliance issues etc. Thanks again Richard

The availability of sufficient workforce capacity in the surveying and geospatial sectors has been a concern in Australia for some time. This is also reflected in the workforce situation in Tasmania. So looking forward to today's TASSIC Workforce Development Forum 2023 where I'll be presenting on this issue from a business perspective. Let's see what outcomes and ideas will arise. https://lnkd.in/gGzEagCt
