Teams function either "above the line" or "below the line." When operating above the line, teams exhibit openness, curiosity, and a commitment to learning. In contrast, when they fall below the line, behaviours shift to defensiveness and an emphasis on being right. This tendency to drop below the line often stems from our evolutionary instincts, which trigger fear and anger during conflict. When we sense a challenge, our lizard brain activates, leading us to react defensively and cling to our positions—an unmistakable sign that we are below the line. Recognising when a team is operating below the line and being able to self-correct is incredibly powerful. This awareness can transform team dynamics and foster a more productive workplace.

The 𝟏-𝟑-𝟏 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞 is a decision-making framework that I recently learned – I am sharing it because I think you will find it helpful, too. The nuts and bolts of it are: ✅ Identify one main problem or decision ✅ Consider three possible solutions or options ✅ Make one recommendation with a clear action The 1-3-1 approach helps streamline thought processes, ensuring decisions are grounded and focused, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of personal and team choices. This is a great one to introduce to your team. It empowers individuals to develop self-directed solutions and ensures everyone is aligned. I love the simplicity of this tool, as it promotes clarity, efficiency, as well as enhancing team effectiveness. Its straightforward approach makes decision-making more accessible and productive for everyone involved. #inspireag #farmpeople #peopleinagriculture #peopleinag #agriculture #agriculturelife #agricultureaustralia #australianfarmers #ausag #australianagriculture #growingagripeople #familyfarming #farmsuccession
