Invest Victoria is the State Government of Victoria's investment attraction agency, fostering long-term economic prosperity by enabling business opportunities and job creation for Victoria. At Invest Victoria, we take an all-inclusive view of our client’s investment objectives, working directly and proactively with them to bridge the gap between investor and the Victorian market. Invest Victoria understands first-hand how doing business within the Australian market can differ vastly from doing business in an investor’s homeland – or indeed other parts of the world.     The German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, with support from Invest Victoria, hosted the German Delegation in Recycling: Industry Symposium in #Melbourne, Australia. The event showcased Germany’s cutting-edge #waste and #recycling innovations and explored opportunities for collaboration with Victoria. Key industry figures from both nations gathered to discuss important themes in #WasteManagement, #WasteToEnergy, and #RecyclingTechnology. The symposium included presentations from Victorian Government representatives, leaders and German innovators. Themes included: ◾ Investment in waste, recycling and resource recovery infrastructure in Victoria is critical to ensure it has the capacity to meet future demand to process its waste. ◾ In 2023, Victoria generated a total of 14.6 million tonnes of waste. With a growing population over the next three decades; this is expected to nearly double to 27.8 million tonnes by 2053. ◾ There is a significant investment opportunity to support Victoria and Australia’s ambition to achieve its target to recover 80% of all waste, by increasing capability and capacity to recycle and recover diverse types of waste. ◾ With a strong commitment to a circular economy, Victoria is a fertile ground for investment, innovation and growth. Victoria remains committed to innovation in recycling and waste-to-energy solutions as we look to grow this sector, create jobs, and drive sustainable investment in the state.     Invest Victoria proudly hosted the 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 last night, bringing together global industry leaders and delegates from #pharma, #biotech, and #healthtech ahead of the National AusBiotech Week held in #Melbourne, Victoria.  The evening was led by Victoria’s Lead Scientist, Dr. Amanda Caples with remarks from the Victorian Government Treasurer and Minister for Economic Growth, Tim Pallas, who shared insights on Victoria’s thriving Health and Life Sciences sector and its investment opportunities.  The event provided invaluable opportunities for attendees to connect with our highly skilled biotech practitioners, researchers, and industry partners. Some key takeaways include: 🔹 The health tech industry is estimated to have seen 18% growth over the last five years, contributing $5.5 billion to our economy. 🔹 Victoria boasts the most science, engineering and IT graduates in Australia and 41% of Australia’s pharmaceutical life science employees. 🔹 Victoria is a global leader in mRNA capability and the only place in the word with two of the world’s leading mRNA innovators - Moderna and BioNTech both establishing manufacturing and research facilities to develop lifesaving mRNA vaccines. 🔹 The Victorian Government is actively investing in medical research, MedTech and mRNA technology, building a world-class sector to attract expertise and innovation.     We were pleased to host a luncheon in #Melbourne with the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia and its Health Committee, comprising its members from #pharma, #medtech, and #healthcare services. Australian executives representing some of the largest US headquartered multinational health technology companies joined invited guests to receive updates on Victoria’s #healthtechnologies sector, including its dynamic investment environment and cutting-edge research opportunities. Attendees heard from Professor Andrea O'Connor, Industry Advisory Co-Chair, Victorian Medtech Skills and Devices Hub (VMH) about key projects shaping the ecosystem, including at the VMH itself and the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD). Additionally, Connie Crisafi, Executive Director – Innovation and Technology, Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) discussed key policy initiatives, including Victoria’s strategy for Investment in Health Technologies. Key takeaways included: 👉 The ACMD and the VMH welcome industry collaborations to drive health technology growth by translating innovations and developing new training pathways to deepen the ecosystem’s workforce skillset. 👉 Invest Victoria welcomes discussions on DJSIR identified opportunities in health technology sub-sectors and prioritisation framework.     Invest Victoria was thrilled to attend the 61𝘴𝘵 𝘈𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘢-𝘑𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘯 𝘈𝘯𝘯𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘑𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘉𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 in Nagoya, a key centre for Japan’s advanced manufacturing industry.   This year’s theme, 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 – 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚-𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 builds on last year’s landmark 60th conference in #Melbourne, marking a new phase in the journey of the AJBCC/JABCC partnership.   Over the three-day conference, more than 550 Australian and Japanese leaders came together from the #energy, #health and #lifesciences, technology and innovation, #advancedmanufacturing, real estate and food and beverage sectors to foster collaboration. Invest Victoria staff attended multiple events to showcase Victoria as a leading investment destination and to connect with new and existing stakeholders.
