“How is AUKUS changing the landscape for Australian critical minerals companies?” Rebecca Tomkinson, CEO of The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia challenged three of Australia’s leading mining executives. National security and the energy transition are increasingly aligned objectives for Australia, the US, their allies and adversaries. The critical minerals found in Western Australia go into clean energy technologies (e.g. wind turbines, solar panels, electric vehicles) and high-tech products. They are also essential inputs for defence. To shortcut and demystify the time-consuming process of navigating US Government Departments to finance critical mineral projects, AmCham Australia members Ioneer Ltd., Jervois Global and Australian Strategic Materials (ASM) shared their journeys with a business audience in Perth on Friday 13 September. During the panel discussion, speakers discussed and debated topics such as: 📌 The US and Australian opportunities and solutions to accessing capital for energy projects 📌The biggest energy and resources opportunities in an Australian context 📌Roadblocks to unlocking domestic opportunities 📌How the Australian Commonwealth and State Governments could better support our critical minerals companies in making the most of available US Government funding opportunities Special thanks to: Our surprise personalised video address from Robert Marcum, Deputy Director of the Loans Program Office at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Our fantastic keynote speaker and panelist Bernard Rowe, whose incredible story inspired this event Our stellar panel of speakers and brilliant moderator: James May, Steve Motteram, Bernard Rowe, Rebecca Tomkinson State Series Partners: Parabellum International, Starlight Children's Foundation Australia, Curtin University Event Partner: The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME) Venue: Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre Photographer: Ingo Burkhart (Manny Tamayo's team) Event Supporters: WA Mining Club and Energy Club WA *What's next?* Our upcoming business series luncheon (Wed Oct 2) - focusing on the impact of US Elections on Australian Industry - is filling up: https://lnkd.in/ejH5Gd-Z Join us in-person for this special event to stay on the front foot of news from a panel of leaders with a hotline to Washington and global centres of influence around the world.

Boron and Boron compounds have a variety of important uses in EV transition, manufacturing and industry. 1. Electric Vehicles: FerroBoron used in production of high-strength steel alloys essential for EV automotive performance and components like car chassis. 2. Neodymium Magnets: Neodymium (NdFeB) magnets, crafted from alloy of Neodymium, iron and boron are essential for modern EV motors, Wind Turbines, braking systems and other technologies critical to the Electric Vehicles and reduced carbon planet 3. #Industrial Uses: Boron compounds are used in tiles and heat resistant ceramics, Borosilicate glass is known for its resistance to heat and chemicals. Used in lab equipment, cookware, and industrial applications. 4. #Construction (Insulation and Carpets): Borate is used in fire retardants in building materials like insulation and carpets, EV electrical systems. It adds flame-resistant properties to fiberglass insulation, reducing the risk of fire. #ASX #INR #mining #resources #lithium #boron #criticalminerals #cleanenergy #netzero #sustainable #technology #circulareconomy

We are happy to release our 'Western USA Mining 2024 - Pre-Release Edition'! As the energy transition progresses, the United States faces a critical decision: reclaim domestic production or risk surrendering the fate of green energy to foreign control. In 2023, the country reached a record high in mineral imports, relying entirely on foreign sources for 15 critical minerals. 46 executives across the mining value chain told GBR about the challenges and opportunities going forward. Did you know that there are very few Australian mining companies that have received US Government funding for their critical mineral projects? Whether directed to AmCham Australia, the U.S. Embassy in Australia, US Consulates around the country or U.S. Commercial Service, questions on this topic have increased exponentially since the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was introduced in August 2022 and again in December 2024 when the United States Department of Defense amended DPA Title 3 to include Australia in its definition of domestic production. It is with this backdrop that we have developed a must-attend event for junior miners, mining giants, government departments and all organisations which service this industry to best understand the roadmap to success. Speaking for our Critical Minerals Business Luncheon in Perth on Friday 13 October is: - Bernard Rowe, Managing Director of Ioneer Ltd. As many in Australia will now be aware, Ioneer received a US$700 million loan from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Loans Program Office for a lithium processing facility in Nevada at the site of its Rhyolite Ridge project. - Steve Motteram, Chief Financial Officer of Australian Strategic Materials (ASM). The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) also issued a Letter of Interest for up to US $600 million in debt financing for Australian Strategic Materials' Dubbo project. - James May, Chief Financial Officer of Jervois Global. For those not in-the-know, Jervois received $15 million through DPA title III for exploratory work around their Idaho Cobalt Operations. Moderating this crucial conversation will be The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia CEO Rebecca Tomkinson. Whether you have mining operations in the United States or Australia, there are US Government financing options available. This is your chance to find out how you can access them by learning from those who have been successful in doing so. What will this mean for boron supply chain security given Turkey holds about 75% of global reserves? There is really only one large boron producing mine outside of Turkey and that is Rio Tinto's Boron mine in California. Ioneer Ltd.'s Rhyolite Ridge Lithium-Boron project located in neighboring Nevada is construction ready and is expected to be fully permitted next month. Rhyolite Ridge contains approximately 13 million tonnes of boric acid and is ideally placed to provide secure, stable and sustainable supply to the large US market for the ensuing decades. Boron is widely used across multiple industries including glass, building, automotive, solar and agriculture in addition to critical military applications. #boron #lithium #supplychainsecurity U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) United States Department of Defense https://lnkd.in/gQvtmSEQ
