Bruker Daltonics' latest application note highlights that ultra-high-throughput proteomics doesn’t have to compromise depth or quality. Pairing a timsTOF HT with an Aurora Rapid 5x75 column, the researchers identified over 7,200 protein groups and 85,658 precursors in just 5 minutes. With outstanding reproducibility across 10 labs and multiple users, this combination is great for reducing sample queues when speed is paramount. Learn more in the full app note below. New research advances mitochondrial disease diagnostics: A recent study by Correia et al., combining proteomics with genetic analysis, has identified seven potential biomarkers for mitochondrial diseases. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4htwtKZ Researchers out of the Wredenberg lab analyzed fibroblasts from 67 patients and 17 controls, identifying 5,888 unique proteins. The study revealed distinct proteomic signatures for different mitochondrial disease groups and demonstrated how proteomics can support genetic diagnoses. This breakthrough could significantly improve diagnostic workflows and treatment monitoring for mitochondrial diseases. The chromatographic separation achieved with the Aurora Ultimate column enabled high-quality targeted proteomics validation and facilitated the identification of disease-specific protein signatures. Great poster by Evosep Biosystems at #iSCMS2024, demonstrating substantial improvements in retention time stability and reproducibility. Using the Aurora Rapid 5x75 and Aurora Elite 15x75 columns, the Whisper Zoom 80 SPD method delivers sharper, more consistent peak widths across instruments, while the Whisper Zoom 120 SPD achieves optimal sensitivity at just 10 ng of HeLa peptides. This combination clearly enables precise, scalable single-cell analysis with enhanced depth and reproducibility.

The molecular architecture of the SARS-CoV-2 double-membrane vesicle (DMV) pore complex, a crucial component in coronavirus replication, has been unveiled in a study by Huang et al. Using cryogenic electron tomography and subtomogram averaging, the researchers resolved the structure of the nsp3-nsp4 pore complex at 4.2 Å resolution. This research provides a groundwork to understand DMV pore formation and RNA translocation in the Coronaviridae family, potentially extending to other viruses in the Arteviridae family of Nidovirale. An IonOpticks Aurora Ultimate column enabled high-resolution chromatographic separation for the mass spectrometry analysis. Great poster presentation by Bruker's Christoph Krisp on Day 1 of iSCMS 2024, demonstrating the timsTOF Ultra 2’s power in single-cell analysis, identifying over 4,000 protein groups per HeLa cell in dia-PASEF mode. Using Cellenion's cellenONE + proteoCHIP for sample prep, and Evosep Biosystems' Whisper Zoom methods, Christoph showcased reproducible, high-sensitivity results in scalable workflows up to 1080 SPD with Aurora Series columns used for superior separation with the timsTOF Ultra 2. The optimised labeling workflow also enabled rapid cell-type screening with protein-RNA profile correlations, advancing efficient phenotyping.
