This month across our Group, we’ve been diving deep into workplace safety and cyber security as we recognise National Safe Work Month and Cyber Security Awareness Month. Our teams have participated in various events and activities to raise awareness of the safety challenges we face and explore how we can build a safer working environment. Pictured is our annual National Safe Work Month field panel event, where office-based staff heard directly from our field team members on the critical risks they face every day. Safety and security is everyone's business. You can learn more about the approach we take to safety, health and wellbeing at our Sustainability Hub: https://lnkd.in/g9pvENYY #WorkplaceSafety #CyberSecurityAwareness #NationalSafeWorkMonth #CyberSecurityMonth

Our Malabar Biomethane Injection Plant is the place to be! This month, we’ve been pleased to welcome NSW Minister for Industry and Trade, the Hon. Anoulack Chanthivong MP as well as members of our Jemena Gas Network Customer Council. For many of our industrial customers, such as those reliant on high heat to operate, or for natural gas as a feedstock, renewable gas (such as biomethane) can help them to decarbonise their operations while continuing to produce many of the goods we use each day. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to visit our plant. You can learn more about renewable gas at our website: https://lnkd.in/gK26xENQ

Are you up to date with the latest changes for getting solar PV systems installed in Victoria? This includes a recent change introduced by the Victorian Government that means from 1 October all solar PV systems must be emergency backstop enabled. This means that the solar system can be remotely turned down or switched off by Jemena (at the direction of the Australian Energy Market Operator) during an emergency, such as when we have a supply and demand imbalance, to protect the stability of the electricity grid and to prevent blackouts. This new change impacts all households and small businesses installing a new, replacement or upgraded system. October is National Safe Work Month, and we’re shining the spotlight on our updated Health & Safety Strategy! We want to ensure all of our people understand the strategic approach we take to keeping people safe, and we’ve made significant progress in this regard over recent years. Our updated Group Health and Safety Strategy for 2025 – 2028 continues to evolve our approach to keeping people safe, in line with our Group objective of ‘Continue to build a safe and inclusive workplace’. The strategy is underpinned by four key results areas - Leadership, Learning, Communication and Critical Risk. In addition to our four key result areas, we continue to have a ‘Safety First’ vision, centred around our SAFE (Simple, Accountable, Focus, Everytime) Commitments. We all have a role to play in keeping people safe. We’re excited to announce we will be installing a community battery on Hudson St, Coburg, VIC. The community battery, which will be installed in the coming months, will help stabilise the electricity grid while enabling more homes to install rooftop solar. The community battery will store energy, often soaking up power generated by rooftop solar during the day. The energy will then be shared with nearby homes and businesses through their existing electricity supply, this will often occur in the evening when there is more demand on the electricity grid. Homes and businesses on the same low-voltage network as the community battery will automatically access the energy it stores through their existing electricity supply. There is no sign-up process required. This is one of four community batteries Jemena will be installing within its electricity network as part of the Australian Government’s Community Batteries for Household Solar Program. For more info on Jemena’s community battery rollout visit: https://lnkd.in/gbfCPy7F

This year, we wanted to focus our 2024 Community Grants Program on helping address disadvantage in the communities where we operate. And of course, one of the biggest ways we can help address that is by helping make sure vulnerable people have access to nutritious meals. This year, out of our 12 grants, we’re proud to be supporting six food assistance programs across communities where we operate in New South Wales and Melbourne, with community organisations using our funding to buy commercial-grade kitchen equipment, pantry staples, or to make more than 5000 meals for people in need… Congratulations to these worthy organisations, supporting members of our community through tough times: NSW – NourishED (Lake Macquarie), Lifeline South Coast (Wollongong), Vivability Limited (Bathurst), Georges River Life Care (Peakhurst, Sydney) Melbourne – Alex Makes Meals Group LTD. (Preston), 300 Blankets (Braybrook) Read more about these great programs, and our other grant recipients, on our website at: https://lnkd.in/gUUJwUJr
