⚠️ What tricks allow attackers to stay in the network for years? Using Certutil to download malware, reconfiguring MFA in Exchange to compromise business communications with a bank, and achieving persistence through IKEEXT — attackers' creativity leads to complex attack schemes that can sometimes outsmart even organizations with a mature cybersecurity posture. Our Global Emergency Response Team (GERT) experts thoroughly explain these tactics in a review of interesting cases from their own practice. The overall conclusion is clear — organizations need deep monitoring of their infrastructure based on the analysis of current cyber threats to know what to look for in logs. Investigations of many listed incidents began when a client subscribed to Kaspersky MDR, and long-running malicious activity was finally detected. The review featured: Flax Typhoon APT, ToddyCat APT (or someone very similar to them), and, of course, everyone's favorite: T1078.002 from ATT&CK. Bonus track: insider threats! ➡️ Read more: https://lnkd.in/gDqvRgBc #cybersecurity #threats #APT #SIEM #LOLBAS

Many businesses today struggle to find the expertise and resources needed to track down cyberthreats heading their way, and to respond appropriately. Security teams can be overwhelmed by managing systems and tools, leaving little time for thorough investigation and analysis. Additionally, even an in-house SOC often requires an external perspective on the infrastructure and insights from an international team of experts to assess the situation and receive recommendations for further actions. That’s where Kaspersky Managed Detection and Response (MDR) steps in. Learn more ⇒ https://kas.pr/r4va

Earlier, we reported nearly 10 million stealer infections detected in 2023 by our Kaspersky Digital Footprint Intelligence service. Based on previous years' data, we forecasted almost 16 million infections, and within just 6 months of 2024, we've already reached 93.34% of this prediction. This trend suggests that the total number of detected infections could exceed 17 million by the end of 2024. Learn more https://kas.pr/j5ms

🔄 **Secure Configuration of LibreOffice** When an organization decides to reduce its dependency on Microsoft products and switches to other office applications, the IT and cybersecurity teams face the significant task of creating standard configurations and policies for these alternative products. Fortunately, existing guidelines can be used during this process. We reviewed a practical guide on securely configuring LibreOffice in a corporate environment, published by the German cybersecurity agency BSI, and highlighted key recommendations that differ from the default settings (which, to the developers' credit, are quite secure by default). Policies can be deployed across large groups of workstations using administrative XML files, and this mechanism works almost identically on Unix, macOS, and Windows.
