After losing his wife Anna to bladder cancer, Adam Lynch took his grief in a new direction by founding Beats Bladder Cancer Australia. He shifted from business to advocacy, creating a real support network for people affected by this overlooked disease. Adam’s work isn’t just about raising awareness; it’s about building a community and providing resources that make a difference. His story is a reminder of how personal loss can drive meaningful change. #BladderCancerAwareness #CommunityImpact #kintsugiheroes #grief https://lnkd.in/gyQYTGf6

Kintsugi Heroes shares the stories of everyday people who have found a way through challenges or adversity in order to achieve something inspirational to fellow humans on similar journeys. It's a collection of stories designed to uplift people, give them hope, and inspire them to keep going to achieve their dreams - despite the rocky path they may be on. We share these stories via a podcast, which will be turned into chapters of a book to be published in 2023.

Cheryl Harris is a dedicated community advocate who turned her experience as an unpaid carer into a mission to help others. When her husband Ken was diagnosed with kidney disease, Cheryl navigated hospital visits, dialysis, and the emotional ups and downs of caregiving with incredible strength. After Ken passed, Cheryl shifted her focus to personal growth and volunteering, from advocating for kidney health to helping with homelessness. She believes even small acts of kindness can create big change. Now, she’s working with the @universityofthesunshinecoast on a project to build a resource hub for carers and seniors, continuing her commitment to making a positive impact. https://lnkd.in/gvs85fSB #CarersWeek #carerssupport #CelebratingCarers #mentalhealthmonth #kintsugiheroes #UnpaidCarers #Caregiving

Barbara Minuzzo’s caregiving journey began with her father’s battle with dementia and continues today as she cares for her mother, who has had a stroke and suffers from high-level dementia. For Barbara, it's a choice driven by love, knowing her mother would feel lost in an unfamiliar environment where she can't speak the language. With support from organisations like Mary Health Gateway, Barbara can focus on improving her mother's independence and quality of life. Her story is a powerful reminder of the strength, patience, and gratitude required in unpaid care. #Caregiving #UnpaidCarers #FamilySupport #SelfCare #DementiaAwareness #MaryHealthGateway #CelebratingCarers #carersweek #mentalhealthmonth #CarersWeek #DementiaCare #dementiaawareness #kintsugiheroes #carerssupport https://lnkd.in/gAA5rxh3

In Australia, there are 3 million carers—12% of our population! Behind the scenes, everyday heroes are providing informal care for loved ones. Among them, 44% of primary carers are also living with a disability. Carers are a mix of both men and women, with 13% female and 11% male representation. What’s even more eye-opening? Over 391,000 carers are under the age of 25, already taking on the responsibility of care. Let's celebrate their resilience and support the networks they need. Together, we can foster a community of care. https://lnkd.in/gBwd_aXS
