Today, I am honored to reflect upon the remarkable women who have imbued me with the courage and passion to embark on my journey with DuGood. They have paved a path of purpose and meaning for me to follow—a journey illuminated by the exemplary lives they lead. My mother and sister, in particular, have been my steadfast guides and sources of inspiration. Wishing everyone a Happy International Women's Day!

Involving notable public figures is often part of DuGood’s recipe for creating powerful connections and making a difference. If you think watching a star perform at your company Christmas party is exciting, imagine the power of rolling up your sleeves and volunteering side by side with one! DuGood can help brands flip the script on volunteering, raising awareness and traditional team-building experiences. We are incredibly grateful to the talented entertainers who joined us at Our Big Kitchen, not as guests of honour, but as fellow volunteers eager to contribute. These guys starred in the ABC drama Barons with DuGood founder Megan MacKenzie. Instead of being passive spectators, picture your team actively engaged, collaborating with notable figures on a shared mission. It's not just team building; it's building a community of purpose and impact. 💫

  • DuGood continues to help charities tap the power of entertainers and sports icons to raise awareness of their initiatives through bespoke volunteer events. In our most recent collaboration we teamed up fashion powerhouse Yan Yan Chan and actress Courtney Clarke to shine a light on Gotcha4Life’s Check-in Tuesdays. In a festive morning wrapping presents at the Givewrap stand at the QVB, DuGood founder Megan MacKenzie and Gotcha4Life CEO Belinda Elworthy joined Yan Yan and Courtney to encourage people to send a message to a friend who might be struggling this holiday season. Yan Yan and Courtney helped Gotcha4Life magnify its mission, driving awareness and action towards creating a suicide-free world.

This International Volunteer Day we're feeling so much love for all of you who give your time to make the world better. DuGood just teamed up with @northernbeachescleanupcrew to pull heaps of trash from Curl Curl Lagoon. It was laughs, learning, and bit of mucky adventure. More than just a cleanup, we created memories, made friends and made a difference for our planet. We make 2.01 billion tonnes of waste a year, but only recycle 16% of it. It's more than just numbers – it's about our oceans, our wildlife, and our world. Every choice we make, from picking up litter to recycling that flat white lid, helps. Every effort counts, from lagoon clean-ups to mindful waste management. Let's be part of the solution, not the pollution. #InternationalVolunteersDay#VolunteerRecognition#VolunteerImpact#CommunityService#MakingADifference#ThankYouVolunteers

This article by Dr. Geoff Goldrick, a volunteer firefighter and climate scientist, offers a stark but important reminder that the climate crisis isn't a fight that we can win alone. As Australia faces an increasing number of climate-related catastrophes—be it fires, floods, or droughts—there's a pressing need for more volunteers. Yet, the trend shows that fewer people are joining the ranks. Why This Matters for Volunteer Managers If you're in a position to influence or manage volunteers, this article makes it abundantly clear that your role is more crucial than ever. Mobilizing volunteers isn't just about mitigating a crisis; it's about building community resilience that benefits us all. As we all know, volunteering isn't a one-way street—it serves both the volunteers and those in need. For Gen Z and Gen X Volunteers in Sydney You don't have to hold a hose to make a difference. Goldrick points out that behind the frontlines, there's a plethora of roles that can suit your skills and interests. Now, imagine doing all of this with a touch of social connection and fun. That's exactly what we're trying to achieve with the DuGood app. We're working hard to make volunteering as accessible, social, and as rewarding as possible for younger generations who crave digital engagement.
