Long-term support is crucial for our organisation, and we're incredibly grateful to have Fortescue standing by us for another three years. Their renewed partnership will help ensure we have the volunteers and resources needed to deliver life-saving conversations, with over 150,000 expected this year alone. Fortescue's commitment has already enabled the training of more than 165 telephone Crisis Supporters who have been able to provide critical support to help seekers. The partnership thrives when everyone gets involved, like steven streat and his Christmas Creek team, whose amazing can recycling initiative raised an incredible $9,563 for Lifeline WA. We couldn't meet the growing demand for crisis support without the ongoing commitment from Fortescue. Thank you for being an integral part of our purpose to provide crisis support and prevention of suicide. With our annual Out of the Shadows Walk only a few weeks away, we thought we would share a few moments from previous years' events. This year's walk will take place on Saturday, 7 September from 5:30am at Kings Park. In conjunction with World Suicide Prevention Day, the event unites people from different backgrounds and communities who have been impacted by suicide. This is a very special event on the Lifeline WA calendar which allows people from all walks of life to come together and remember their loved ones. The Out of the Shadows Walk is supported by City of Perth and is free to attend. We walk together because no one should have to walk through the darkness alone. To register for this event, please visit: https://lnkd.in/g53uujRm #lifelinewa

We're grateful to BHP who recently responded to our urgent call for funding assistance by providing a $200,000 donation to help us recruit, train and deploy another 50 Crisis Supporters. Lifeline WA can not meet the growing demand for crisis support without the philanthropic support from people and organisations in the community. It costs $4,000 to train just one new Crisis Supporter, and the only way that can happen is through the generous support of organisations like BHP. Read the full story on our website: https://lnkd.in/ga-6NTTE 📸 Group Photo: Lifeline WA's CEO Lorna MacGregor and BHP's Head of Human Resources WA, Regina Stene with Lifeline WA Crisis Supporters, volunteers and staff.

At BHP we are on a journey to continuously improve the way we support the mental health of our employees and their families and the communities in which we operate. Lifeline WA provides 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services to Western Australians experiencing a personal crisis or thinking about suicide. For people working away or living in regional and remote communities, a service like Lifeline is critical. I am pleased to share that we will continue our support for Lifeline WA in FY25, with a donation of $200,000 towards critical training for the Crisis Supporters who generously volunteer their time. This will help Lifeline WA respond to more than 130,000 calls over the next 12 months and ensure no call goes unanswered. If you or someone you know is struggling, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14, text 0477 131 114, or go online at https://lnkd.in/ghpV-nVY. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
