Our stand-alone ore sorting pilot plant has been running for a couple of months and has impressed us with its potential at this early stage in the project. Through this program, we treat off-spec ore from our mining activities to remove deleterious materials and lift the grade so the material can become part of our clean ore inventory. This rock would otherwise become part of our waste stockpile. We commenced ore sorting ahead of first production to ensure we maximise the return from our mining activities and develop our natural resources responsibly by reducing the impact on the environment and minimising waste from the outset. #LTR #Mining #Lithium #CriticalMinerals #OreSorting #Ore #Sustainability

We wrapped up NAIDOC Week at Kathleen Valley over the weekend with a jam-packed program that celebrated the culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. From prepping damper and digging for honey ants to feasting on Marlu (kangaroo) cooked on an open fire, discovering art and bush medicine and rocking out to Desert Road Band, there was so much activity for everyone to join in and be a part of. Commissioning is tracking to schedule at Kathleen Valley. To give you an idea about what is involved, the team are working their way through the testing of 84 operable systems and 607 subsystems, performing approximately 4,000 function checks, nearly 400 drive tests and completing over 3,000 check sheets, each one requiring anywhere from 10 to 30 checks to be confirmed. Earlier this year, during a film shoot at Kathleen Valley, we came across Fifi Harris, a member of the Tjiwarl people, who are the Traditional Owners of the land where our Kathleen Valley operation is. Fifi was visiting country with her sons, Joel Maitland & Troy Harris, while discussing partnership opportunities with Liontown. While there, they were digging for honey ants and looking for bush food. We were lucky enough that Fifi didn't mind us asking a heap of questions and showing us how to dig for honey ants. We learnt about Fifi’s traditions and culture and discovered so much about her heritage and the environment around us. True to their name, the liquid the ants produce was just like honey! A sweet and delicious nectar. To formalise and commemorate our strategic partnership with LG Energy Solution, Liontown leaders travelled to Seoul in South Korea. The group attended a Signing Ceremony and a tour of LG Energy Solution’s Ochang Plant to see how Kathleen Valley spodumene concentrate will be processed into batteries. The agreement delivers long-term funding for Kathleen Valley and a 10-year offtake extension, paving the way for long-term growth and collaboration to explore the feasibility of establishing a lithium refinery. Following an invitation to Liontown’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) from GOLD FIELDS Agnew to compete in the 2024 CME Surface Mine Emergency Rescue Competition (SMERC) last weekend, Liontown Geology Technician, Linda Voravong, jumped at the chance. During the two-day competition, teams' life-saving skills were tested, facing challenges such as firefighting, first aid and vehicle extrication. “To say that it was an amazing opportunity to compete with Gold Fields Agnew would be an understatement,” Linda said. “Using the skills I learned from my training in challenges based on real-life emergency scenarios was an awesome experience and enabled me to grow to help our team at Kathleen Valley. We were completely covered in mud and sweat for most of it, but that never stopped our enthusiasm and high energy for the comp.” Congratulations to Linda and the Agnew team for their outstanding performance, placing 3rd overall and being named ‘Best New Team’. We let you know last month that Kathleen Valley’s hybrid power station came online to provide renewable power to our village and process plant from the solar farm, battery system and three of the five turbines. Today, we’re happy to share that all five turbines are online, so the 95MW hybrid power station is complete. On the weekend, our underground mining operation disconnected from the temporary power and connected to the permanent hybrid power network. This was the final step in interconnecting all major infrastructure across our site to allow us to maximise renewable penetration. Following this, we tested the hybrid power station’s load sharing and renewable energy storage capabilities, reliably powering the process plant, Dragonfly Village and underground mining operation on 100% renewable sources on Sunday and overnight, with the thermal components of the power station switched off (engines off) during this time. We have expanded our strategic partnership with foundation customer, LG Energy Solution, securing a US$250 million investment and a 10-year offtake extension, paving the way for long-term growth and collaboration to explore the feasibility of establishing a lithium refinery. The long-term funding arrangement will support the ramp-up of Kathleen Valley into 3 Mtpa steady state production, while continuing optimisation studies and early underground mine development works to preserve the 4 Mtpa expansion option. LG Energy Solution is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries. The long-term partnership with LG Energy Solution follows an extensive due diligence process, further reinforcing the tier-one qualities of Kathleen Valley and reflecting Liontown’s position as an emerging producer of high-quality, fully IRA-compliant, lithium raw materials. Another exciting milestone was achieved that brings us closer to first production. This week we ramped up the wet commissioning of the processing plant at Kathleen Valley, pumping process water through the thickener and the SAG milling circuit for the first time, tuning the control loops and ensuring that everything works as it should. As construction of Kathleen Valley’s Dragonfly Village approaches completion, we would like to take a moment to appreciate our Village Construction Manager Richard Hartley. Richard arrived on site two years ago, with not much more than a caravan to stay in and a pencil-drawn sketch design of a dragonfly.
