Caring for Brisbane's Community
About us
The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust has been caring for the Brisbane community since the 1960's. We provide critical grants and support to local and grassroots charities who help people dealing with our city’s biggest social challenges. We believe that addressing these challenges, whether it’s homelessness, domestic violence or supporting people with illness or disability, requires community effort. This is why the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust is proud to support hundreds of lesser-known charities who work directly with people facing these challenges. Every year, we support charities with: • Two annual grant rounds of up to $10,000 per charity • Easter Grant of Easter eggs for disadvantaged children • Christmas Grant of children’s toys, Foodbank vouchers and small cash grants of up to $2,000 per charity. The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust also runs a Major Grant program for large scale projects or for charities in emergent need. For more detailed information about our grants, please visit our website www.lmct.org.au.

Zig Zag Young Women's Resource Centre provides support for at-risk young women (aged 12-25). The LMCT is incredibly proud to have been able to help fund some critical supplies for their recently opened pantry where patrons can fill their baskets with essential items such as frozen meals, non-perishable food, nappies, wipes and personal hygiene products 💜 In just a few months of operation Zig Zag provided almost 400 different " shops " to their patrons. At the official opening of the pantry, Amy, who is part of the Zig Zag community, said; “The environment at Zig Zag is always one of safety, nurturing, kindness, compassion, strength and healing. Zig Zag have touched the lives of so many young people in Brisbane, including my own and this pantry is just another way that Zig Zag are making a difference”

💜 Brisbane charities are a critical lifeline for our city's most vulnerable and the need has never been greater. Cost-of-living pressures, a housing crisis and the scourge of domestic violence are impacting so many people in our community right now. Last week, the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust acknowledged the incredible work of our charities, with 22 grants awarded to help them continue supporting Brisbane residents. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to our charities and to everyone who has donated to the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust.

The Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust helped to facilitate an incredible donation to four charities in Brisbane. The Chinese Culture Centre (QLD) kindly donated 100 brand new coffee tables and TV units to local charities, including Hearts of Purple. We're proud to support charities like Hearts of Purple who have recently purchased a block of land to build emergency housing for domestic violence victims. Thank you, The Chinese Culture Centre (QLD). 👏
