    On Friday 31 January, prefabAUS and the Commonwealth Bank (CBA) were hosted by founding prefabAUS member Modscape for a major announcement aimed at alleviating some of the financial barriers associated with homebuyers purchasing prefabricated homes. CBA is joining prefabAUS as our first bank member and is introducing policy changes to simplify the home buying journey for prefabricated housing. Under the new policy, Commonwealth Bank will enable customers to access progress payments prior to the property being affixed to land, up to 60 per cent of the total contract price, rather than the customer having to fund up to 90 per cent of the upfront costs, which has previously been the case. Additionally, CBA has agreed to sponsor the development of a standard form contract (being facilitated by prefabAUS) for the modern methods of construction (MMC) sector to help support home buyers and manufacturers.  This is great news for our members, our industry and the consumers who want a home that is Better, Faster and Smarter.
