MAB has proudly sponsored the 2024 HousingFirst Annual Art Exhibition for the 3rd consecutive year. Last week we had the privilege of attending the opening evening with an opportunity to meet the artists and celebrate their creativity, resilience and community spirit. This year the exhibition was held at the Preston Crossing community art space, located at 28 Oakover Road. The evening was well attended with the entire room buzzing with guests, artists, residents, live music and canapes to enjoy. All proceeds from the sale of the community resident’s artwork are provided directly back to the artists. As part of the evening David Allt-Graham provided a thank you speech and presented the MAB Artist of the Year Award to Roy Wilkins, congratulations Roy! The exhibition is FREE and is open between the 6th September and 3rd October at 28 Oakover Road Preston. It is easily accessible by public transport (tram or train) or by car. Opening hours: every Friday from 11 am - 3 pm or via appointment by emailing community@housingfirst.org.au HousingFirst Ltd, Homes Victoria, Balmain & Co, Hayball, Contour Consultants, Taylor Cullity Lethlean, Stantec, David Allt-Graham, Mike Stasiuk, Ben Earl and Greg Jacobs. This week we have grown our industrial pipeline in Melbourne's South East with the acquisition of over 32 hectares within the future Croskell employment precinct in Cranbourne East, expanding our landholding to 77 hectares. MAB’s development will ultimately comprise over 250,000m2 of state of the art industrial and logistics space with an end value exceeding $800 million.   The future development will have the benefit of established infrastructure including, an already duplicated Thompsons Road, close proximity to the future Dandenong South Intermodal Terminal, established Cranbourne West and Dandenong Industrial Precincts, multiple retail centres and a booming residential catchment.   MAB’s latest acquisition in the City of Casey follows the success of our Thompsons Base and Element Park business parks within the municipality and MAB’s purchase of 36 hectares of greenfield residential land in Devon Meadows.   Thanks to the hard work of the MAB team Luke Mitrione, Jamie Buxton, Matthew Planner and LAWD Peter Sagar, Paul Callanan and Henry Sayers who brokered the sale.

We recently attended Nightingale's Opening at Preston Crossing, an event dedicated to the residents on a cool wintry Melbourne evening. The rooftop gathering provided the MAB team an opportunity to talk directly with residents and witness first hand the strong sense of community and pride that has been established since opening of the building and while providing a chance to celebrate the great work completed by MAB's project partners.   The evening commenced with a smoking ceremony by Colin Hunter Jnr, to welcome all and officially open the evening. Those in attendance included, The Hon. Sonya Kilkenny and our project partners, Nightingale Housing, Breathe, Balmain & Co and TCL. A special thanks also to our partners HousingFirst Ltd, the Victorian Government (Homes Victoria) and the MAB team that have been part of the hard work that has been instrumental in delivering the first three completed stages of Preston Crossing. 📷️ Kate Longley

Supporting community at the grassroots!   In 2018, our Merrifield Community Partnerships Program funded a Merrifield Auskick program, which was the launchpad for the Merrifield Panthers Sporting Association. We have since been proud supporters and helped provide opportunities for the local community to participate in basketball, football, cricket and tennis. With even more sports on the horizon, the association has seen amazing growth over the past 6 years, having now established a strong presence in the Craigieburn Junior Domestic Basketball competition, expanded its Auskick program and more recently debuted the Merrifield Panthers Football Club in the Essendon District Football League. Go Panthers! Watch the video to find out more.

Recently, we welcomed residents into the first three completed stages at Preston Crossing - MAB’s new, sustainable residential community in Melbourne’s inner north. The three completed stages are within the Oakover Road neighbourhood of Preston Crossing and include 26 townhouses designed by Archier, 52 Nightingale apartments by Breathe, and 99 social and affordable apartments by Hayball. Each apartment and townhouse is Five Star Green Star Design and As-Built certified, and carries a minimum 7 Star average NatHERs rating, significantly reducing energy usage in operation. Last month at Merrifield City, we celebrated the opening of the Paul Sadler Swimland and the topping out of our new four-level commercial building - set to open later this year with Green Leaves Childcare, Jetts fitness gym, allied health services, office spaces and more. The Paul Sadler Swimland is a fantastic addition to the sports and recreation amenities already serving the Merrifield community and supports the shared vision of MAB, Gibson Property Corporation, and QIC Real Estate, to deliver a vibrant town centre in Melbourne’s north. Thank you to everyone involved in reaching this significant milestone, including QIC Real Estate, Hume City Council Mayor Cr Naim Kurt, Becon Constructions (Aust) Pty Ltd and NH Architecture.

This week we were delighted to provide eight property students from RMIT and the University of Melbourne with an exclusive tour of our MAB Preston Crossing project. Students were provided a first-hand look at our completed buildings and current stages under construction with a mix of townhouses, apartments, Nightingale apartments and social housing showcased. Led by David Allt-Graham, Alex McMillan, David Hall and Maddison Caulfield, the student group walked away with some valuable insights and a better understanding of the diverse work we do at MAB.
