⚖️ APPEAL UPHELD Thrilled to have assisted our client in obtaining development consent for a new 3-storey boarding house in Penrith. Contentions raised by Council included arguments relating to: ♻ Issues regarding waste management, including on-site waste infrastructure, waste truck accessibility, and private vs. public waste collection, 💵 Rent control measures, 🚘 Parking and vehicular access, 🌧 Flood planning, 🏘 Neighbour amenity concerns. 👨⚖️ APPEAL UPHELD Pleased to have assisted our client in successfully appealing the refusal of a development application for the demolition and construction of a 108-place childcare centre in the Parramatta City Council LGA that consisted of a two-level childcare centre over basement parking. The contentious issues in the proceedings not only included several planning contentions including streetscape and internal amenity issues, but also revolved around allowance for prospective road widening, arboricultural issues, acoustic issues, stormwater issues and the impact of stormwater design on unencumbered outdoor play areas, as well as an air quality issue given the closeness of the proposed centre to the M4 motorway. Overall, a very pleasing result. https://lnkd.in/gyBABgaj Recent data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics reveals a modest increase in multi-unit dwelling approvals in NSW, marking the highest level in over a year. Despite this positive sign, approvals remain significantly below the targets set by the National Housing Accord. Annual approval rates are at decade-lows, and NSW needs a drastic boost to meet its housing goals, with current figures far from the required numbers. Urgent reforms in planning and regulatory processes are needed to address the ongoing housing shortage and meet the ambitious targets for new home completions. NSW sees a rise in apartment approvals, but we're still far from the targets needed to tackle the housing crisis.
