Last week, our CEO Shemara Wikramanayake participated in Bloomberg Philanthropies' Global Business Forum, where she shared the stage with leaders from across public policy, business, technology and finance. As part of the Forum, Shemara had the pleasure to engage with US President Joe Biden, who reflected on the positive impact that the Inflation Reduction Act has had on investment in the United States and applauded the work being led by global private companies to support clean energy manufacturing and technological innovation in the country. Yesterday, we held our annual Macquarie Base Metals Summit which welcomed more than 400 clients in London as part of #LMEWeek. Our experts explored the supply-demand outlook for #BaseMetals and broader #Commodities markets following a period of marked volatility. They also discussed the impact of secular demand trends arising from the global #EnergyTransition and the challenges it faces amidst an uncertain geopolitical landscape. Recently, our people in San Francisco attended a special event hosted by The Ocean Cleanup at the San Francisco Exploratorium. The Ocean Cleanup recently welcomed the return of two vessels fitted out with cleanup System 03 into San Francisco, carrying tons of trash from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The Ocean Cleanup is on a mission to rid the world’s oceans of plastic using innovative cleanup technologies. Through the Macquarie 50th Anniversary Award, the #MacquarieGroupFoundation is supporting The Ocean Cleanup’s proven trash-capturing solutions in both oceans and rivers. Our volunteer Ambassador Network enables our people to further support The Ocean Cleanup by identifying areas of opportunity, driving initiatives, and providing support and connectivity. This week, our CEO Shemara Wikramanayake and colleagues attended #ClimateWeekNYC, meeting with leaders from around the world to engage on the issues of scaling clean energy and mobilising finance for climate action in emerging markets. We were proud to participate in the first ever Global Renewables Summit 2024, organised by Global Renewables Alliance and Bloomberg Philanthropies, focused on driving the actions needed to triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030, the objective set at COP28 in Dubai last year. Shemara also joined Ajay Banga, Kristalina Georgieva, Mike Bloomberg, Bill Winters, and Ambassador Majid Al Suwaidi at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum to discuss progress and ambitions in the collaboration of multi-lateral finance institutions and the private sector, notably through The World Bank Private Sector Investment Lab. Macquarie’s commitment to supporting global sustainable infrastructure investment was also highlighted at the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment Roundtable, hosted by the US Government, where Shemara spoke with public and private sector representatives on the importance of developing climate-resilient infrastructure. Our activity concluded with Macquarie’s Climate Week Dinner, where Shemara welcomed Ajay Banga and Ricardo Mussa, CEO of Raízen, to our new Americas headquarters in New York for a fireside discussion. Bringing together leaders in the energy sector, our event explored the critical need for investment in climate infrastructure in emerging markets and the leading role played by Brazil in the #G20 and upcoming #COP30. Our Asia CEO, Verena Lim, spoke at the recent Milken Institute Asia Summit, joining leading public sector investors to discuss the crucial need to bridge infrastructure gaps in Asia. As a region, Asia requires significant investment in digitalisation, urbanisation, and healthcare to meet its growing needs. With strong population growth, its role as a manufacturing powerhouse, and increasing capital investment, the region is well-positioned for long-term, sustainable growth. For over 30 years, Macquarie has grown its expertise and presence in Asia, witnessing the region’s vast potential firsthand, especially in infrastructure. By working alongside public and private partners, our teams on the ground continue to unlock opportunities, shaping the region's future and driving innovation in this dynamic market. #MIGlobal #MIGlobalAsiaSummit

Congratulations to the 2024 Macquarie Group #EmergingArtistPrize winner Mitchell Davis, awarded for “orange and blue (tent study)”, which has been acquired by the #MacquarieGroupCollection. Mitchell lives and works on Gandangara country in the NSW Southern Highlands. In his textile and assemblage-based work he explores cycles of damage and repair, repurposing sentimental materials to redefine their associations and explore ideas of masculinity and identity. We also congratulate Lee Coulthard who won the Highly Commended Award and Rhy Dyball who won the Nick Waterlow OAM Highly Commended Award. We would like to thank Tony Burke MP, Minister for the Arts, who joined our CEO, Shemara Wikramanayake, at our launch event yesterday evening, along with our guest judges Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro for their support of the 2024 Macquarie Group Emerging Artist prize. The artworks of the finalists are now available to view and purchase in the online exhibition here: macq.co/EAP
