Can farmers really tell if a plant's doing well by looking at it? In our experience the relationship between the plant, climate and soil is probably one of the most complicated things on the planet. We are holding demo days at one of our wheat trial sites on the 25th October & 7th November in Streatham, VIC. Follow the link in the blog below to sign up! https://lnkd.in/gWsgaRuG #madeaustralia #droughtresilience #ausag #futuredroughtfund

Our recently completed laboratory testing demonstrated that wheat treated with a digestate blended bio-fertiliser was both far more resilient to simulated drought conditions and also increased water holding capacity of soils. Converting Farm Waste into Fertiliser & Fuel: Demo Day MADE is excited to offer you a unique opportunity to visit our Anaerobic Digestion pilot plant on the 27th September from 10am - 1pm. The 2 to 3 hour session will include: - An overview of Anaerobic Digestion and how amazing biology can convert organic wastes into products like bio-fertilisers and fuels to replace diesel - We will provide you with deeper insights to see if this would work for your farm or a group of farms - We can show you how it works and the process - Part of the tour will include a look at wheat trials that have had different bio-fertilisers applied as alternatives to synthetic fertilisers. Get your tickets by clicking the link below https://lnkd.in/gpFA2zsa #futuredroughtfund #australianagriculture #droughtresilience #regenerativeagriculture

At MADE we are starting to see more conversations about the importance of soil health and food production. our purpose is repurposing ag residues to build organic matter, Humus and improve yields. Our current wheat trials with digestate are starting to show this! exciting times ahead!
✂️CUTTING THROUGH THE NOISE: A Scientific and Regenerative Pathway to Building, Reviving, and Maintaining Soil #Soil, the foundation of life on Earth, faces unprecedented threats from human activities, leading to runaway degradation, erosion, and loss of #fertility. 📢 Call To Action 🪢It's time to put aside debates, distractions, and confusion, and focus on building soil. 🕸️ Let's ignore the misinformation and concentrate on reviving soil. 🔬We need to clarify the situation, get a clear understanding of the science and ethics, and work together on maintaining soil. By adopting scientific and regenerative approaches to building, reviving, and maintaining healthy soil, we can restore soil ecosystems and ensure a sustainable future. 🏝️Building Soil: The Foundation of Ecosystems #Research has shown that incorporating organic matter, such as compost, manure, or green manure, increases soil's water-holding capacity and nutrient content (Lal, 2004). Planting cover crops like legumes and grasses enhances soil structure, reduces erosion, and attracts beneficial insects (Snapp et al., 2010). Applying a thick layer of organic mulch retains moisture, suppresses weeds, and regulates soil temperature (Blanco-Canqui et al., 2013). 🏝️Reviving Degraded Soil: A Call to Action Assessing soil health is crucial in reviving degraded soil (Karlen et al., 2013). Removing pollutants, adding natural amendments like compost tea or worm castings, and introducing beneficial microbes promotes a diverse microbial community (Glick, 2012). These measures address nutrient deficiencies, reduce soil-borne diseases, and enhance soil fertility. 🏝️Maintaining Soil Health: A Long-Term Commitment Minimizing tillage preserves soil structure and organic matter, while crop rotation avoids depleting soil nutrients and promotes beneficial insects (Hartwig & Ammon, 2002). Regular monitoring and adaptation ensure optimal soil conditions, maintaining soil cover with mulch, cover crops, or living groundcovers to prevent erosion and retain moisture (Blanco-Canqui et al., 2013). By adopting these scientifically-backed principles, we can build, revive, and maintain healthy, resilient soil that supports #biodiversity, efficient water use, and thriving #ecosystems. Now is the time for bold action – to secure our planet and regenerative futures. #BuildReviveMaintainSoil #SoilRegeneration #CuttingThroughTheNoise #RegenerativeSoilManagement #RegenerativeAgriculture #SoilHealthMatters #ScienceForSoil #SoilConservation #EcoFriendlyFarming #SoilBiodiversity #SoilCarbonSequestration #RegenAg #SoilLove #HealthySoilHealthyPlanet

Excited to be a part of this program! Looking forward to engaging with interest parties at next Thursday's showcase day in Toowoomba! MADE is dedicated to enabling regional farming communities to thrive in new ways. We can convert agricultural residues into innovative biofertilisers and fuels, providing cost effective locally sourced alternatives.
Repurposing agricultural waste for fuels and fertilisers 🌾 ⛽ Introducing MADE Australia, an innovator in our 2024 GRDC GroundUp Program that is tapping underutilised tech to help farmers convert agricultural waste into cheap fuel and fertiliser. MADE is using novel anaerobic digestion technology to produce biofertilisers and biofuels and develop a scalable ‘biohub’, designed to improve farmers’ yields and profitability without relying on synthetic fuels and fertilisers. The Victorian agritech company’s ultimate goal is for every agricultural community in Australia to have a MADE Biohub – a novel anaerobic digestion technology embedded within a circular bioeconomy where agricultural waste is repurposed to create a reliable, more affordable and zero emissions local supply of biofertilisers and biofuels. You can find out more about MADE by visiting their website or coming along to our 2024 GRDC GroundUp Showcase Day on August 29.
