Over 31 years, we've taken 26,460 females sailing, fostering confidence and independence. Our programs are inclusive, using modified yachts and engaging 98 female volunteers. We featured remarkable women in our Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, including Alyson Gearing, Maddie Lyons, Tracey Gottliebsen, and Annie Lawrence. We're on track to reach 4,100 female participants by 2026. Join us in championing inclusivity and gender equality. At Making Waves Newcastle, we are delighted to see three of our participants thriving in their Wright of Passage Program! They are benefiting from the wonderful facilities provided by the Making Waves Foundation and the Ian and Shirley Norman Foundation. Building a rainbow dinghy from scratch. This hands-on initiative is providing them with invaluable skills, from safe site preparation and effective teamwork to tool handling, environmental responsibility, sailing techniques, and even an introduction to hydrodynamics. Every day, these three boys are growing in both confidence and capability. So far, we’ve successfully constructed the jig for the boat and today marked a milestone as we began glueing and glassing. It’s amazing to witness their progress and dedication. As volunteers, we’re not just guiding them—we’re learning alongside them. It’s been a truly rewarding experience for all involved, filled with moments of growth, laughter, and shared achievement. Thank you to everyone who has made this initiative possible.
