Mapei Australia is excited to participate in the upcoming Australian Small Bridges Conference, which will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 22nd to 23rd. At the event, our technical team will deliver a presentation on bridge crosshead strengthening, focusing on a study highlighting FRP design optimisation—a successful fusion of precision engineering, adherence to standards, and a keen focus on economising resources. The study addresses a project that specifically targeted the reinforcement of crossheads for bridge piers. Carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) was employed for strengthening, complemented by an anti-carbonation coating to protect the exposed concrete between the water level and the soffit of the existing deck. Mapei’s technical experts also played a pivotal role in designing a solution tailored for rapid installation, factoring in the labour costs in Australia. This thereby enhanced the overall economic efficiency of the project. For further information, contact Aviral Choudhary Technical Engineer at Mapei Australia or Umberto Rico Regional Product Manager, Mapei International.
