Marine Rescue NSW volunteer and staff member Brad had the honor of taking Minister Jihad Dib on the water last week for an on-water capability demonstration. Minister Dib, we think you look great with the team in blue 💙
It was great to get out on the water this week with Minister Jihad Dib, Commissioner Alex Barrell, staff and volunteers from Marine Rescue NSW. As we prepare for the summer boating season, it was an opportunity to showcase our vessels, VHF radio coverage and also go over some key boating safety messages and equipment. Thanks Minister for connecting with our team and supporting safer boating this summer! #marinerescuensw #boatingsafety #staysafeonthewater

Yesterday, we gathered for the NSW Emergency Service Volunteers Memorial Service to honour and remember the selfless NSW emergency service volunteers who have tragically lost their lives while serving and protecting their communities. The names of volunteers enshrined on the Memorial pay tribute to personnel from Marine Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW State Emergency Service and VRA Rescue NSW. Our thoughts are with the families, friends and colleagues of the fallen volunteers.

We are excited to share that the Marine Rescue NSW app has been shortlisted for the 2024 International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) Awards, which honour outstanding contributions from search and rescue (SAR) personnel and organisations from around the world. The Marine Rescue NSW app is the only app that connects boaters with our highly skilled and professionally trained volunteers. When boaters Log On via the app, key details about their trip are shared, enabling us to quickly start a search if they don't return as planned. The latest version of the app also hosts a range of features including real-time weather updates, maritime safety alerts, detailed maps and more to help keep boaters safe on the water. Download the free app from the App Store or Google Play: https://lnkd.in/gCNrGUMJ

Marine Rescue NSW Commissioner Alex Barrell joined forces with representatives from NSW Maritime, NSW Police Force Marine Area Command and Surf Life Saving NSW today to urge boaters to put safety first this boating season. Last boating season, Marine Rescue NSW volunteers completed 3,242 search and rescue missions, including 921 emergency responses, safely returning more than 7,500 people to shore. Those planning to hit the water this boating season need to make sure their vessel and safety equipment are in good working order to avoid becoming a statistic. All boaters are encouraged to Log On with Marine Rescue NSW. Logging On provides peace of mind for boaters and their families, knowing that our dedicated volunteers will keep watch for their safe return. Log On via the free Marine Rescue NSW app or VHF Channel 16.

At Marine Rescue NSW, we’re proud to highlight a recent donation from the NAB Foundation that’s helping us put safety first. Thanks to their generous support, we’ve equipped our teams with Lone Worker Devices — especially for those providing 24-hour radio Log On and Log Off services to the boating community. These devices ensure the safety of our volunteers by providing instant access to emergency contacts in case of a security or medical emergency. They offer peace of mind, especially for our female volunteers who often work long hours alone in remote or isolated areas.

This week, the Sydney Roosters made a generous donation to NSW emergency service organisations. We are extremely grateful for their support. Good luck in the NRL finals tonight!

🚁 Flashback to last week! Our awesome Marine Rescue NSW Greater Sydney volunteers teamed up with the NSW Police Force Aviation Command (aka “PolAir”) for an epic visit! 🙌 We got a behind-the-scenes look at how the PolAir team works during rescue missions 🛟 Now, our volunteers are even more prepared to tackle on-water emergencies together with the sky-high pros! 🌊✈️
