Nearly $20 million will be allocated to a new pilot program designed to support Queensland Small and Family Businesses and their apprentices. The LNP has unveiled an Apprenticeship Support plan aimed at covering up to half the wages of apprentices. This initiative seeks to provide financial assistance, streamline regulatory requirements, and make it easier to secure apprentices. Initially, the program will be available to 2,000 apprentices employed by small and family businesses in the construction industry. Here's how it'll work: ➡️ 50% of apprentice wages covered for first and second-year apprentices ➡️ 25% of wages covered for third and fourth-year apprentices ➡️ Both during training block periods of four weeks, twice a year. You can read more about this program here: https://bit.ly/4fp0bPI If you're n employer looking to hire an apprentice and want to know more about the initiatives available to you, contact our team today! This year, we've had the pleasure of welcoming a fantastic new group of individuals to our team. The expertise and experience they bring to Mas National are vital in supporting the delivery of the Australian Apprenticeship Support Services across the region. One of our standout additions is Sue Black, our new ACT Manager. With an impressive 13.5 years of experience in the Apprenticeship sector, Sue finds immense joy in seeing clients light up as they explore the diverse opportunities within the VET sector. "I firmly believe everyone deserves to pursue what they love," Sue shared. "If I can help students and job seekers secure roles that fulfill them, I consider that a personal success." Sue's passion extends to witnessing the achievements of her team and clients. "It's incredibly rewarding when an apprentice completes their training and then reaches out to sign up their own first apprentice," she added. Outside of work, Sue, a proud mum and grandmother, enjoys an active lifestyle. She loves off-grid caravan camping with her partner and two King Charles dogs, indulges in arts and crafts, creates beautiful handmade greeting cards, and unwinds with a friendly game of pool in her shed. We're thrilled to have Sue leading our ACT team and look forward to the great results they'll achieve together. Please join us in giving Sue a warm welcome! #AustralianApprenticeship #ACTManager #ACT #trainingsector #VET #intoworkaustralia #masnational

Did you know that Leonardo da Vinci started his incredible career as an apprentice? He learned his art skills from Andrea del Verrocchio, who was once an apprentice to the famous artist Donatello. Leonardo's masterpieces, such as The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa, are well-known, but his impact extends far beyond these iconic works. A lifelong learner, he delved into various disciplines including philosophy, physiology, and the humanities. Apprenticeships have long been a powerful way to develop skills and knowledge, turning passionate beginners into experts. Whether you're looking to kickstart a new career or enhance your skills in your current field, an apprenticeship offers a unique blend of learning while earning. Breaking barriers and making history! Bianca Jeanette Taylor is the incredible Australian Apprentice who became South Australia's first female stonemason when she was 16. After discovering her passion for stonemasonry at a very young age, she secured a rare apprenticeship. Over the following four years, she lent her skills to prestigious projects such as the historic restoration of Adelaide Railway Station and the redevelopment of the old Royal Adelaide Hospital. Her journey doesn't stop there! This year, Bianca had the incredible opportunity to work alongside master-masons at Exeter Cathedral in England as part of the Cathedrals’ Workshop Fellowship. "With an apprenticeship and her own business, Taylor Made Heritage Restoration, Bianca is set to make lasting contributions to South Australian heritage while inspiring future generations, promoting sustainable industry practices, and preserving South Australia’s rich architectural history," said the South Australian Skills Comission. As the Principal Sponsor of the 2024 South Australian Training Awards, our SA State Manager Kara Prichard had the honour of presenting Bianca with the Apprentice of the Year Award. Some stories are too good to forget. Today's #TBT is dedicated to the remarkable journey of Georgia Wilson. Georgia is a brave Australian woman who didn't let an injury or a genetic disorder stop her from succeeding in a field mostly dominated by men. She once played in the Women's Victorian Football League (VFLW), but after six concussions, she now deals with short-term memory loss. Georgia also has a rare condition called PKU Disorder, which makes it hard for her body to process protein, forcing her to stick to a low-protein diet. Despite these challenges, Georgia pursued careers in both the sports and construction industries. When she had to quit playing football, she turned her love for the game into a coaching role at St Bedes Football Club. This experience also led her to start a carpentry apprenticeship at Donnellan Constructions.
