We still have a few tickets available to our #Foresthillpassivhaus open house event tomorrow afternoon! This is a rare opportunity - not just to talk to the designers & builders, but also the home owners about their experience of living in passive house (certification pending). https://lnkd.in/gjWHbteR

Thanks for sharing Australian Passivhaus Association!
Our incredible members Mark Van Haandel of @MVHconstructions and Sven Maxa of @maxadesign_ are featured in the July 2024 issue of House & Garden Magazine. 🏠 The ‘Surrey Hills’ Project by @MVHconstructions & @maxadesign_ For owners Caroline & Nick and their two boys, the move from a draughty old cottage into their new luminous “barn", with it’s views to a lush garden, has been a green change and a very welcome one. Even though their new home is larger, the family’s energy bills have shrunk. #passivhaus #sustainablebuilding #sustainableliving #houseandgarden

On Thursday 27th June our director Sven will be co-hosting a live seminar along with Marcus Strang, Hamish White and Brian Guinan to help builders understand what it takes to achieve the certification of a passivhaus! This is the first live event for Sustainable Builders Alliance held at the Better Building Exchange! Plenty of tips will be shared, along with some 'traps' for first-timers, and then we will be finishing with some light refreshments.. Doors open at 6pm for a 6:30pm start - there will be plenty of time to mingle after the presentation Proudly sponsored by HIP V. HYPE and Carbon Warrior Tickets can be purchased here: https://lnkd.in/gwPfiqgQ

On 24th May 2004, Maxa Design was born! So on Friday night we enjoyed the spoils at two of our old Melbourne favourites; Chin Chin & Eau de Vie! What a journey it's been! We've worked with some incredible people on some of the most amazing projects. We feel very lucky to do what we do. Thank you to all of our past and present team members. You're all legends! Thank you to our wonderful clients. You continue to inspire and challenge us (in a good way, of course!). Here's the best part, we feel like we're just warming up!! #20yearsinbusiness #maxadesign #passivehousedesigner #passivhausdesigner #sustainabledesign #sustainabledesigner #sustainablehomedesigner #sustainablehome

We're not the Passivhaus Police, but we do feel its important to be clear. That's why we thought we should put our PSA out there. Of course, if you've got energy data for your house, or project, and it shows a 90% reduction in heating and cooling energy - that's awesome, and please continue to shout it from the rooftops! We'd love to hear about it and learn from it. Is this a rant? maybe.. are we wrong? let us know. #passivehousepolice #passivhauspolice #ranting #passivhausprinciples #passivhausaustralia #Passivhaus #passivhausdesign #passivhaus #certifiedpassivehouse #maxadesign #certifiedpassivhaus #passivehouse #Passivehouseplanningpackage

A little while ago we teamed up with Andy Goy of Goycon builders to create a series of videos explaining the importance of construction drawings. If we were to highlight one key point from this, it's that the project construction drawings form part of the building contract.Just like the written contract's terms and conditions leave nothing ambiguous, your construction drawings should be clear, explicit and highly detailed too. Don't cut corners on cheap 'plans' - invest in quality documents. https://lnkd.in/gMVHxYs8

We've recently shared some tips on waste management for your construction project - admittedly with a focus on residential construction. One of our key points is this: "One of the greatest recycling challenges in construction is the use of adhesives. These limit the recycle-ability of materials, particularly in relation to timber floorboards and even plasterboard. Building without adhesives will allow for greater usage at end of life." Why not have a read of the article, and share your thoughts with us - we'd love to continue learning from you. https://lnkd.in/gwEeqqGU

I know there's a bunch of you that will have the answer to this... Why is it that SIPS (Structural Insulated Panels) do not require roof ventilation in climate zones 6, 7 and 8? Have the NCC assumed that all SIPS are metal skinned? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this. #Nationalconstructioncode #NCC #BCA #Roofventilation #Codesarenotclear
