The MCC, Delaware North and SecondBite have again teamed up to establish collections of surplus food to feed vulnerable Melburnians. With the support of SecondBite, excess food that has been ordered for match days and functions doesn’t go to waste, and is instead transported from the venue to those who need it most. At the conclusion of the AFL season, 4,896 kilograms of food that would otherwise have ended up in landfill was redirected to local charities and non-profits — and the program is set to continue through the summer of cricket.

Ever wondered exactly how we maintain pristine turf through the frosty winter? Our SGL for the love of grass grow lights, the source of the subtle pink glow over the hallowed turf that you may sometimes notice, have been on hand through the AFL season to do exactly that.

What a weekend. On Saturday, a crowd of 100,013 witnessed the Brisbane Lions break a 21-year Premiership drought, taking the MCG's cumulative 2024 AFL season attendance to 3,036,535. The total attendance at the MCG for major events in 2024, including NRL’s State of Origin, a soccer friendly and three Taylor Swift concerts, now sits at 3,579,641. All with a summer of cricket still to come!

We're thrilled to announce that the MCC has been shortlisted in the 2024 Sports Business Awards for the category of Sustainability in Sport! The submission highlights the achievements of MCC’s Climate Active Carbon Neutral Certification. We're thrilled to announce a new seven-year agreement with Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria, ensuring that the iconic Boxing Day Test will remain at the MCG through to 2030/31. An exciting feature of this agreement is the 150th Anniversary Test match, set to be held at the MCG in March 2027. This historic event will celebrate cricket's rich legacy with a special one-off match between Australia and England, marking 150 years since the first Test at the MCG and 50 years since the unforgettable Centenary Test—an iconic chapter in the long-standing rivalry between the two nations.
