As an iconic supplier of professional and household cleaning products in Australia since 1930, almost all Australian’s have used Oates at one point or another. So when the brand reached out to Melbourne Social Co to pitch for their social media accounts, we jumped at the opportunity. After a competitive pitching process, Melbourne Social Co was appointed as the Social Media Agency of Oates. Thank you Mediaweek Australia for sharing our exciting news! https://lnkd.in/gJ6WrFbR

Melbourne Social Co is thrilled to announce two new staff appointments, following a very successful quarter for the agency, and a number of marquee new client signings. The agency is thrilled to welcome Ebony Coatsworth, as a Social Media Executive. Ebony has carved out a really successful personal brand, marketing community and podcast series in ‘Can I Buy You A Coffee’ over the past few years, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the agency. We also welcome Amy Torpy this month. Amy comes from a PR agency background and joins Melbourne Social Co as an Account Manager, bringing a wealth of experience across property and hotel portfolios. We are thrilled to welcome both Ebony and Amy, and look forward to this experienced pairing working on key new client signings.

🔥 Account Spotlight 🔥 35mm Co are marketing hard to their Gen-Z target audience, and they’re doing it incredibly well! 📸 Why does their content work? ⭐ It shows the end result of images taken using their film cameras, giving potential customers a look into what they can expect if they were to purchase a camera. ⭐ Content often features real customer photo dumps, which fosters a sense of authenticity and community. ⭐ They run regular giveaways which encourages regular engagement. ⭐ Their content has a very Gen-Z look and feel which is well received by their audience.

Facebook is working hard to attract younger users to join its social network, as opposed to spending their time on other networks like #TikTok, #Instagram, and #Snapchat. They are launching a Gen Z-inspired redesign which will put greater emphasis on local information, videos, and #Facebook Groups, among other things. The updates they are working on capitalise on trends by making Facebook more approachable for those wanting to connect with their local community, or be entertained, rather than simply using the platform as a friend-focused social network. What does this mean for us? It looks as though this rollout is currently only being tested in the U.S and Canada, however, we will keep a keen eye out to see if these changes make their way over to us in Australia. Threads is following Instagram’s lead, with Threads users now able to add up to 20 photos or videos to a carousel in a single Threads update. Though they’re not quite carousels, at least in the same way. Carousels on Threads are just multiple images added to an update, not a specific format as such. But the effect is the same, and having the capacity to add up to 20 images and/or videos is significant, and will expand your Threads posting options. Threads, while it hasn't taken off as successfully as Meta hoped, is still a strong platform for connecting with your audience. Are you launching a new product? Or do you want to ask your followers for their input on a new service offering? Try posting a carousel of images and encourage users to write their opinions in the thread.

What’s the number one skill we’re looking for in new hires at the moment? It’s the ability to capture great native content. Demand for native low fi content has never been higher, and despite the fact that almost everyone has a smart phone, not everyone has the ability to capture great content. If you’re an up and coming marketer, honing your native content skills and building out a portfolio (even just of personal content) should be your number one priority. Even better? Focus on understanding how to integrate trends and latest platform features into your content. Applying for a job at Melbourne Social Co? Get creative and show us your skills, there’s nothing we love more than seeing a video-first job application.

You guys know us for our content. But, we’re also very much about the data here at MSC. For all of the number lovers out there, here’s a few figures from the past week. ↗ Across our portfolio, we had 13,971,155 impressions. ↗ We saw 10,372 engagements last week, with our client audiences seriously resonating with our content. ↗ Specific to Instagram? Audience engagements were up 84% - which is pretty impressive on a platform that’s tricky to get audiences to interact with brands in 2024. Want to know how we do it? Get in touch with our team and we’ll take you through our process.

As some of you would know, Melbourne Social Co recently moved into a lovely new studio space in Melbourne's CBD. We've been very spoilt by our friends at Lifely, who have helped us fill our new space with some gorgeous pieces. Here's a little sneak peek of some beautiful corners of our space.

Did you know 90% of podcasts don’t get past episode 3? Of the remaining 10%, 90% don’t make it to episode 20. So if you get to episode 21, you are in the top 1% of episode producers. Our agency podcast is oh-so-close to the top 1%, with season two coming very soon. Catch-up now on Spotify - https://lnkd.in/gTDWVZa2 I am a big advocate for utilising podcasts as content in 2024. Not only do I love listening to them, but they're also perfect to help fill your social media schedule. We know that EGC is resonating with audiences in 2024, and when it comes to brands that have thought leaders within their ranks, a podcast is a perfect way to showcase your team, capture their clever thoughts on camera, and share short snippets throughout the month. Don't overthink it, just get recording! Nicole Coombs Hannah Coombs Melbourne Social Co
