This week, we had the pleasure of hosting council members from the International Association of Professional Congress Organizers (IAPCO) in Melbourne to celebrate a decade of partnership. Together, we’ve raised Melbourne's profile as a premier global conference destination and supported IAPCO’s mission to uphold excellence in congress organisation. In collaboration with Business Events Australia, the IAPCO Council’s global leaders shared valuable market intelligence, industry insights, and global trends in an educational session with MCB and our partners. Our guests also experienced Melbourne’s dynamic culture—from exceptional venues and hidden laneways to award-winning dining and an inspiring arts scene—leaving with a renewed appreciation for our city’s business event capabilities. The ICCA Congress 2024 provided some lasting memories. Melbourne Convention Bureau was recognised for a 40 year membership of ICCA, recognising our long term commitment to international business events. On behalf of BestCities Global Alliance it was a pleasure to announce a $20,000 Incredible Impacts grant to the European Academy of Childhood-onset Disability (#EACD) for making positive societal impact through their business event. Lastly, always a pleasure spending time with my BestCities Global Alliance board colleagues discussing strategy and sharing best practice.

Over the weekend, we had the opportunity to host a famil for a group of Singapore MICE agents in partnership with Melbourne Convention Bureau and Turkish Airlines. The group arrived in the evening and had a brief introduction to the region starting with a wine tasting at Novotel Geelong, expertly curated by Archive Wine Bar, followed by a dinner at Fisherman’s Pier, where guests enjoyed stunning views of the bay. This was just a small sample of what Geelong has to offer as a business events destination. We will be sharing more over the next few days from days two and three of their famil. #BusinessEvents #MICE #MeetGeelong
