2023 - Year in review the Hunter Valley In May, we launched Australia's first dedicated Advanced Manufacturing VC fund and the Hunter Valley's first VC fund, Melt Ventures As the Hunter's only VC Fund, our commitment to the Hunter and its community is resolute. We are focused on supporting the region's economic transition by investing in new companies creating jobs for the Hunter Valley community. We are excited to have made progress on this mission through: 🟡 Investments into Hunter based companies, University of Newcastle spin out and Alumni companies including MGA Thermal, Allegro Energy and SafeGauge 🟡 Our commitment to University of Newcastle students and work integrated learning programs over the last 5 years remains strong with Viv Jayachandran being named Student Entrepreneur of the year by University of Newcastle. We were proud to have played a part in Viv's journey by helping with the foundation of Jaegersoft including legals, business planning, space and mentoring via The Melt. 🟡 Immersion and support to Hunter hardware ventures to commercialise and scale through the Hunter first clean tech accelerator program The Melt's ENGAGE and NOVA programs. More at www.themelt.io 🟡 Engagement of 100s of students in STEM education via our partnership with Muswellbrook Shire Council. 🟡 Launch of two new Hunter locations: in Australia's energy heartland at Muswellbrook Shire Council's Donald Horne building and in the region's largest hospital at the Hunter Innovation Living Lab (HILL) to support innovation with world class facilities and partners including Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), University of Newcastle and Hunter New England Local Health District. 🟡 Behind the scenes support with innovation space design and programming at these two outstanding centres of Hunter innovation.
