Rock ⭐ Last week Menard Oceania's Dr Babak Hamidi took the stage at the Australian Geomechanics Society WA Symposium. The theme of the symposium was Optimising the Project Life Cycle: The Role of Geotechnical Professionals. 🚢 Babak presented two compelling Menard case studies on Ground Improvement in Australian ports: -Transforming loose granular soils at the Port Botany Expansion -Stabilizing soft cohesive soils at the Port of Brisbane Paddock S3A But the impact didn’t stop there! Babak also led a dynamic panel discussion, Constructing Success: Collaborative Dialogue among Consultants, Contractors, and Clients, alongside industry leaders Alison Jennings (GHD), Wayne Leslie (Georgiou), and Matt Lardi (Public Transport Authority). 👏 A big thanks to everyone who contributed to making this event a powerful exchange of ideas and insights for the future of geotechnical engineering! #GroundImprovement #GeotechnicalEngineering #MenardOceania #AGSWA

🌺🌻 Cultivating connections, one bloom at a time. 🌷🌹 Last week, the Menard Oceania team ventured into Cumberland State Forest for a meaningful day of team building through bush regeneration alongside volunteers! Working side by side, we focused on removing invasive species like Common Jasmine and Climbing Asparagus, helping preserve the native flora and beauty of this treasured forest. 🌳 The day was filled with connection, purpose, and a well-earned lunch to wrap up our efforts! #environment #teambuilding #groundimprovement

Menard Oceania - A Silver Sponsor providing solutions to a challenging industry. We’re proud to have been present at the ANCOLD Tailings Dam Operators Forum, where we shared our expertise in dam stabilisation and learned from other leaders in the field. A big thank to everyone who visited. A special shoutout to Menard’s Jonathan Hale, who delivered an insightful presentation on "A Ground Improvement Approach to the Management of Tailings: Rapid Consolidation, Dam Stability, and Seepage Control." Jonathan also co-led a tour of our ground improvement works at the Eraring Ash Storage Facility alongside our partners at Origin Energy. It was great opportunity to showcase our practical applications in action and have some great food in the process ! #dams #groudimprovement #ancold #civilengineering

🌱 Sustainability in Action! 🌱 Our team recently had the pleasure of visiting Boral Material Technical Services Division in Baulkham Hills, where we were presented exciting developments in the world of green concrete, shared notes on industry developments, explored the new legislative framework around industry emissions reduction in the infrastructure space, and compared our ambitions as we journey towards 2030, and beyond to 2050. Following these rigorous discussions we were treated to a very insightful tour of Boral’s onsite NATA accredited soils laboratory. We thank Boral for engaging with Menard Oceania. As we journey together towards our environmental goals, we will focus on generating opportunities to collaborate together to “Act for the Climate” and mitigate the emissions from concrete binders and use of materials in the foundations and ground improvement industry. #civilengineering #green #concrete #foundation #groundimprovement #menard

Nominated. Again. It was an honor to attend yet another Engineers Australia Excellence Awards ceremony last week! We were nominated for Project of the Year (Northern), alongside Ventia, SoilWicks Australia, and Polaris Marine Group, for our work on the Ranger Mine Pit 3 Wick Installation Project. This project represents a crucial step in restoring ERA's former uranium mine within Kakadu National Park to its natural state. We installed wick drains as deep as 45m below barge deck level—an immense challenge given the extremely soft ground conditions and the added complexity of working in slurry under pressure. Ordinary PVD installations in soft ground are tough enough, but anchoring wicks in these slurry tailings pushed us to innovate. We combined multiple methods, including flooding the installation mandrel with pit water and using a variety of anchors (thickened, long-plated, cross-plated, and more) to ensure success. Ultimately, we achieved a major milestone: installing 1.4 million meters of wicks across 41,500 points. It was a great experience to celebrate this achievement at the awards ceremony last week! #awards #engineersaustralia #groundimprovement #civilengineering #mining #environment #sustainability
