We are excited to welcome Katie Shepherd to the Microbio team as our new Medical Science Liaison! With 19 years of experience in clinical diagnostics and healthcare science, Katie has been dedicated to advancing public health through clinical practice and regulatory compliance. Having trained at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester, with guidance from Consultant Microbiologist Matthew Dryden, Katie practiced as a HCPC registered Microbiology Biomedical Scientist for 11 years. Katie has also accumulated over a decade of expertise in molecular biology and has successfully established and managed a private ISO 15189-accredited clinical genomics service laboratory in the UK. Katie has not only overseen the implementation of crucial genomics services but has also played a key role in establishing Quality Management Systems (QMS) compliant with ISO 13485. Her regulatory experience spans 17 years, including 6 years focused on FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance. As a project lead for early access programs for innovative applications, Katie has expertly managed the launch of two significant Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) genomics solutions for the UK and European markets, showcasing her unique blend of scientific expertise and commercial strategic vision. She is deeply committed to education and mentoring, actively supporting commercial teams and nurturing long-standing relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs). Katie is eager to bring her blend of experience, expertise and enthusiasm to the role of Medical Science Liaison with Microbio facilitating the adoption of the InfectID-BSI solution to help improve #sepsis patient outcomes.
