Are you planning to apply for a student visa in Australia? It’s crucial to understand the Genuine Student (GS) requirement! 🎓 All applicants must prove they are genuine students who intend to stay in Australia primarily for study. This requirement not only ensures that you are committed to your education but also supports the development of skills that Australia needs. What you need to know: 🔍 To be granted a student visa, you must demonstrate that you meet the GS criterion. 🔍 The GS requirement will be effective for applications lodged on or after 23 March 2024. Applications submitted before this date will continue to be assessed under the previous Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement. When assessing your application, the Department of Home Affairs will consider various factors, including: 👉 Your ties to family and community in your home country 👉 Employment and economic circumstances 👉 Potential circumstances in Australia 👉 The value of your chosen course for your future 👉 Your immigration history and other relevant matters Get in touch with us today for tailored advice and support! #studentvisas #students #australianvisas #visas #immigrationsupport

2024 is wrapping up, but not without some major changes to skilled migration from the Department of Home Affairs! 🕒🚀 Key Changes to the 482 Visa - Reduction of Work Experience 📆 Effective 23 November 2024, the skilled work experience requirement for the 482 visa will be reduced from 2 years to 1 year. This adjustment, confirmed at the recent MIA National Conference, will help broaden the pool of candidates eligible for the 482 visa, assisting employers in accessing skilled workers faster and more efficiently. Introducing the New ‘Skills in Demand Visa’ ✨ Set to launch by year-end, the new Skills in Demand Visa will replace the current 482 visa with a three-tiered system, designed to accommodate different skill levels and salary ranges. ▶️ Specialist Skills Pathway Salary Threshold: Minimum $135,000 Processing Priority: 7-day priority processing Occupational Scope: No occupation list restrictions (trades excluded) ▶️Core Skills Pathway Salary Range: Between TSMIT and $135,000 New Occupation List: An updated Skills in Demand list to be introduced Ideal For: Most trade and professional roles ▶️Essential Skills Pathway Salary Cap: Below TSMIT Sector-Specific Focus: Expected to support essential services such as aged care and disability Union Oversight: Ensures compliance and fair treatment Visa durations for the Skills in Demand visa will be up to 4 years, allowing more flexibility for holders to change employers and providing clearer pathways to permanent residency. National Innovation Visa (Subclass 858)💡 The National Innovation Visa is set to launch by the end of 2024, replacing the Global Talent visa. This visa will target individuals with exceptional achievements in their fields. What we currently know about the new National Innovation visa: ▶️ A broad scope covering global researchers, thought leaders, established entrepreneurs, innovative investors, elite athletes, and creatives, with applicants needing to demonstrate high levels of achievement and recognition. ▶️ Invitation only, with an Expression of Interest process that mirrors other invitation based visas. Additional Key Changes to Expect 🔑 ▶️ A new public register of sponsoring employers will be introduced, giving skilled workers more visibility into their employment options. ▶️ LMT will gradually be phased out, with an interim change removing the requirement to advertise on Workforce Australia and extending the validity of advertisements from 4 to 6 months. ▶️ Visa holders will have more flexibility to change employers without jeopardising their visa status, offering greater job security and adaptability. Migration Affairs will continue to provide updates as these new policies take effect. These changes represent a more dynamic and transparent system, benefiting both employers and migrant workers in Australia's skilled labour market.
