We're proud to announce that 370 Albert Street has officially topped out! This stunning high-end multi-use building features 4 levels of basement car parking, 2 levels of commercial space, and 13 luxury apartments across 6 floors. With breathtaking south-facing views of Fitzroy Gardens and the MCG, and cityscape views to the west, this project is shaping up to be a true architectural highlight. The construction has involved complex top-down approach, including a massive transfer slab on the ground floor, up to 2 meters deep in places. Over 600 precast panels have been installed, some reaching more than 8 meters tall and many featuring intricate reckli finishes, curved designs, and custom color mixes to complement the façade. The post-tensioned structure includes curved downturn beams and striking 4-meter cantilevered balconies, including one that overhangs the heritage terrace house. A massive shoutout to our incredible team for keeping this challenging project on track: Peter Brinsmead, Jarrod Frew, Ben Salter, Josh Young, Enzo Beylie, Charlotte Hobson, Nic Rawson, Katie Fox, and Steven Cavar. Stay tuned for more updates as we head toward completion!

We’re proud to be playing a part in the delivery of these important works at the Melbourne Airport!
We are upgrading security screening in Terminal 1 (Qantas Domestic). The new body and baggage screening technology will mean an easier security experience for passengers. A temporary screening point is being constructed at the eastern end of the Qantas Domestic terminal. When it opens in August, Qantas domestic passengers will no longer need to remove laptops, tablets, or aerosols from their carry-on luggage. The project is expected to be completed in December 2025. We are proud to be involved with the GIRI (Get it Right Initiative) becoming the first member in Asia Pacific in 2021 as well as an accredited trainer in 2022. We’ve delivered error reduction to more than 900 staff across our group and anticipate that number to grow significantly this year. As an early adopter of GIRI training, we have challenged the status quo. There have been numerous noticeable changes throughout the business, including an increase in conversations around quality and greater awareness of error across all levels. This is anchored by GIRI’s research into the cost of error, which is highlighting to our staff the huge amount of waste within the sector, empowering them to be more creative in discovering ways to boost productivity and reduce error. As we approach the 26th of January, we approach the day with sensitivity and recognise it is an important date in our shared histories. A day to acknowledge past wrongs and show respect for Australia’s First Nations peoples’, their survival, resilience, and enduring cultures. While the Icon Group does not officially endorse or celebrate this day in a historical capacity, the 26th of January is a designated national public holiday. We remain committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace where everyone feels valued and understood, particularly with the lead up to significant events. We encourage understanding among all team members. There is much to celebrate about Australia, and this day is an opportunity to reflect on our shared histories, and a compelling way to extend your cultural knowledge, by joining in the many events being held across the nation, in unity with First Nations peoples and organisations. Our vision for reconciliation is to create a positive and inclusive culture whereby all future and current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are proudly themselves, and for all employees to recognise and appreciate the histories and cultures of local First Nations peoples for the betterment of the communities we operate within.

We built a bridge! We are proud to hand over stage 1 of the Walmer Street bridge project to Salta Properties today. This portion of the project involved the constructing the bridge structure, surrounding pathways and landscaping and will enable the public to cross the Yarra river and access the Yarra trail in time for the Christmas break. This project is the first of its kind for Minicon, it involved a steel structure for the southern entry to the bridge and surrounding pathways, landscape and metalwork including bike barriers, balustrades, and handrails. The team utilised a complex scaffolding / gantry system to install the steel to avoid the high voltage powerlines overhead and navigated the steep embankment from Walma Plaza down to the Yarra trail to receive all deliveries and machinery. Take a look at what we have done so far – we look forward to completing the project in 2024. #webuiltabridge #minicon #construction
