Exciting to see all the innovative MND research happening in Queensland! #NeverGiveUp
I had a great time with our fabulous QLD researchers learning about the innovation and projects to improve the lives of people living with MND. It was a busy couple of days filled with insightful visits to several prominent institutes, including the Translational Research Institute Australia, the UQ Queensland Brain Institute, the UQ Institute for Molecular Bioscience, and the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology AIBN. Thank you Stacey Thorpe Shyuan Ngo Carlie Cullen

We are aware of the Government's plan to find $16 billion of savings over 4 years in the NDIS and we are closely monitoring how this evolves. MND Australia is continuously engaging with the Government, in conjunction with our members, the State MND organisations, to ensure there is minimal impact on people with MND in the NDIS. We recently submitted a collaborated response to the Dept of Social Services' consultation on the Draft Lists of NDIS Supports, available to view here: https://bit.ly/3AVhwAQ As a network we are we're seeking greater clarity from the Government on how the increased discretionary authority of the NDIA may affect people with MND, and at the moment it is unclear what will be excluded or included as part of the cost savings. Until there's a cure, there's care. Today is World Physiotherapists Day! Physiotherapists work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support people with MND. A physiotherapist or physio helps people stay active and mobile and can help people with MND and their carers learn techniques to move from one position to another, for example, moving from a chair to a bed. A physio can also help with techniques to support coughing and breathing. Thank you to all the wonderful physios out there!! Learn more about multidisciplinary care in MND: https://lnkd.in/ghYzxzSj

At tonight's MNDA board meeting we farewelled our board Vice President Jemma Scott. Jemma has served on our board for six years and has made an invaluable contribution, not only through her exceptional corporate governance skills, but also through her personal lived experience, following her mother's passing from MND in 2012. We wish Jemma well in her next endeavours and thank her for her years of service to the MND community.

Exciting to see the next generation of #MND researchers presenting at our Australian & NZ MND Research Symposium.
Massive thank you 🙌 to MND Australia and the organisers of the 3rd Australia and New Zealand MND Research Symposium for the opportunity to share my research, and I am so grateful to receive the MND and Me Foundation supported clinical/care rapid fire presentation award. I couldn't have done this without the generous support from the MND Australia PhD scholarship top up grant and everyone in the Steyn, Ngo, Barth and Bollmann labs.
