Meet Justin, Contracts Administrator at Modscape. With a strong foundation in civil engineering and passion for sustainable construction, Justin is a natural fit for Modscape. He now contributes to a wide range of projects while balancing work and family life with his young daughter. What were you doing before you came to Modscape? – I was working as a project coordinator for a large construction company in Canada, managing sustainable commercial projects including one of the country’s first carbon-neutral campuses. How did you get into construction? – I studied civil and structural engineering, but my passion for construction was influenced by my dad, who was a builder. Growing up, I often visited job sites with him, which sparked my interest early on. What drew you to modular construction? – I was frustrated with the slow adoption of sustainable practices in traditional construction. Modular offers a faster and more efficient approach that aligns with my values. What’s something you’ve learned about the industry that’s surprised you? – I was surprised by how well modular construction works for remote locations. It solves the labour scarcity problem and allows for high-quality builds where traditional methods would struggle. How do you unwind after a long day? – I try to take it easy, spending time with my two-year-old daughter, often over dinner at home. #meettheteam #conversations #ModscapeLife #modularconstruction #MMC

It’s been a busy week for the Modscape team, but our lunchtime walking club still managed to step outside to recharge in the sunshine. The team also gathered for a “Lunch & Learn” session on Wednesday to fuel our bodies and minds. Balancing productivity with well-being is key to what we do, and it’s moments like these that keep us connected and energised. #ModscapeLife #TeamWellness #LunchAndLearn #ModularDesign #MMC #TeamCulture #SustainabilityInAction

We welcomed the team from Essendon Fields today for a tour of Modscape’s manufacturing facility, and discussed our synergies in sustainability and innovation.   Sustainability is—and always has been—one of the core pillars for Modscape.   Our move to Essendon Fields, a precinct known for its sustainable practices, reflects our ongoing commitment to reducing environmental impact while delivering innovative modular construction solutions.   Some of the key sustainability initiatives at Essendon Fields include:   - 335,000+ litres of water collected from hangar roofs, redistributed to the onsite tree farm - 15,000 trees being cultivated and planted across the precinct (with 10,700 already planted) - 100% of carbon emissions from airfield lighting offset - 1,242 solar panels installed that feedback clean energy to the embedded network.   By partnering with Modscape, clients align their projects with sustainable construction practices that offer both environmental benefits and operational efficiencies.   If your next project requires innovative design with a positive environmental impact, please reach out to the team. #mmc #dfma #modbotics #offsitemanufacturing #constructioninnovation #sustainability

Meet Matthew, Project Supervisor at Modscape QLD. Originally from the UK, Matthew brings years of experience in carpentry and high-end restoration to Modscape. Drawn to modular construction, he now works on a variety of projects while balancing family life and community involvement on the Gold Coast. What were you doing before you came to Modscape? – I initially trained as a carpenter in the UK, working on high-end restoration projects like Windsor Castle and Lincoln Cathedral. I later ran my own business specialising in green oak framing – a traditional building method that’s deeply rooted in UK heritage. When we decided to move to Australia, my wife, who works in recruitment, happened to connect with Modscape. It was the only job I applied for, and it felt like the right fit from the start. How did you get into construction? – My grandfather built timber buses in Lancashire, and I spent weekends with him in his workshop, learning the craft. That’s where my passion for construction began, and I went straight into a four-year apprenticeship after school. What drew you to modular construction? – I believe modular construction is the future, especially in a growing country like Australia. It offers quick, high-quality solutions, which is essential as the population increases. I’d done some modular work years ago, and when the opportunity with Modscape came up, I saw the potential and wanted to be part of it. What’s something you’ve learned about the industry that’s surprised you? – The sheer potential of modular construction in Australia. The scale of projects we’re involved in, and how much modular can achieve, has been a real eye-opener. How would you describe a typical day at Modscape? – Every day is different. I’m on-site working with the team on various projects, from high-end homes to larger developments. The variety keeps things exciting, and I get to wear a lot of hats, which I enjoy. How do you unwind after a long day? – I have two young boys, so they keep me busy. We live near the beach on the Gold Coast, so we spend a lot of time there. I also play rugby union and coach my son’s team, which helps me stay connected to the community.
