This week, Montu acknowledged the efforts of pharmacists across the globe for World Pharmacists Day. World Pharmacists Day falls annually on the 25th of September and this year's theme was: 'Meeting global health needs'. George Tambassis, community pharmacy owner and Special Adviser to Montu, paid tribute to the pharmacist community. “World Pharmacists Day provides an opportunity to reflect on all the critical work that pharmacists do across the globe, as they continue to go above and beyond for their patients and communities. “Pharmacists are a critical cog in the primary healthcare system and the level of support that they provide their patients and peers never ceases to amaze me.” #WorldPharmacistsDay #WPD2024

Montu has been ranked number one in LinkedIn Australia’s coveted Top Startups list for 2024. The list, published by LinkedIn each year, lists 20 Australian companies that are continuing to innovate and attract top talent. Montu’s listing is the second time a company in its sector has made the cut, after the organisation placed fifth on the list in 2023. Montu Software Engineer Jo Rocca recently had the opportunity to share her unique story at the Inspiring Women in STEM event with Women in Technology. “My journey into tech has been one that I think would inspire others who want to be in tech, but might feel something is stopping them. I’m a former English teacher who taught myself how to code and get into tech. When I started, I never thought I would still be here, and four years later, I am a Software Engineer at Montu ." In her role, Jo is responsible for fixing any issues related to patient access to the portal, when booking systems are down or patients are having issues book consultations. Jo's advice for people wanting to change careers and get into tech: "You don’t need formal qualifications, you can teach yourself. With information being accessible on the internet, I learned by watching YouTube videos. I found mentors to teach me about blockchain, NFTs and healthtech. I want women — and everyone — to know that: whatever you think is stopping you from reaching your goal of getting into tech, just give it a go." Image: Jo is second from the right.

Montu's Industry & Government Engagement Lead, Matthew McCrone, and Head of Government Relations, Edward Strong, appeared at the New South Wales parliamentary inquiry into the impact of the regulatory framework for cannabis. The pair discussed a number of subjects with the committee, including the improvement of workplace drug testing and driving legislation, cementing Montu's commitment to patient-centric care.

Myles Lawlor, GM of Technology and Product spoke at the Influencing Tech (ANZ) TechLeaders event with representatives from other top technology and telecommunications companies. Myles shared his predictions and thoughts on the issues that will shape the year ahead.
