  • It was great to have the team from Blue Dragon Children's Foundation visit our Melbourne office this week. Founder and Strategic Director Michael Brosowski AM shared his story about setting up the foundation and gave us some fascinating insight into the incredible work they do in Vietnam to rescue children from slavery, homelessness, extreme poverty and child trafficking. Blue Dragon is one of the organisations supported by Morris Family Foundation as part of its International Development focus. Read more about their important work: https://bit.ly/41TlEwh

Introducing a new addition to our family. Barragunda Dining opens on Friday 21 February. The 40-seat restaurant is set amongst the market garden of Barragunda Estate at Cape Schanck. It’s an ode to the place on which it stands: every plate paying homage to the land and its abundance. Its opening is the result of a 15-year journey for Hayley Morris working towards a food system that aims to restore nature, rather than control it. Bringing people to their farm to tell the story is a huge step forward in that journey. In collaboration with Executive Chef Simone Watts, the Barragunda dining experience invites guests to be immersed in a unique sense of place through food and wine, embracing the wild natural beauty of this corner of the Mornington Peninsula. All profits from the restaurant will be directed back to Morris Family Foundation to support grassroots projects that are working towards innovation and systemic change in Australia’s food systems to advance the shift towards regenerative practices. Bookings are now open | Visit the website to explore more about Barragunda Dining or make a booking https://bit.ly/4hBHvxc

We couldn’t be prouder of our talented culinary teams this week after three of our venues received Chef’s Hats from Australian Good Food Guide. The Paddock restaurant at Beechmont Estate maintained it’s well-earned two-hat status, while Marmor and Terasu at Ardo in Townsville received one hat each – an extraordinary achievement in their first year of operation. Congratulations to the teams at Morris Escapes and The Ville Resort-Casino on this incredible achievement.

  • In the last financial year, Morris Family Foundation provided $577,000 in funding for projects that support the health of the ocean and Great Barrier Reef. James Cook University’s Orpheus Island Research Station (OIRS) is just one of the many organisations supported by the Reef Keepers program. We met some of the PhD students from the station to find out more about their research projects and how they’re helping to protect the future of our iconic reef and its inhabitants.
