We’re keeping it cool at NEXTDC S3 Sydney, having successfully landed all 54 cooling towers! ❄️🧊 26 of the towers are now fully operational, with the remaining units currently in the commissioning phase. Cooling towers are vital for data centres, helping to regulate temperature by removing excess heat, ensuring servers and equipment run efficiently and reliably. The installation process was carefully planned through several design and safety workshops. The cooling towers were delivered in three pieces, assembled in a designated area, then lifted and placed onto the mechanical skids for final plumbing and wiring. This milestone showcased another great use of Roborigger, which enabled the team to rig and lift the cooling towers safely and precisely onto the steel platform. A true testament to teamwork, efficiency, and outperformance in action. #builttooutperform A.G. Coombs

This international Women’s Day, we’re proud to highlight Thalita Saragiotto, Senior Project Manager at Multiplex in the UK. Thalita’s career began with a degree in Architecture and an MBA in Project Management, driving her passion for leaving a lasting impact on city skylines and witnessing projects evolve throughout their lifecycle. With a career spanning over 15 years, Thalita spent nearly a decade honing her skills as a planner, before transitioning to project delivery three years ago. Progressing from site manager to package management, and now Senior Project Manager, she finds immense satisfaction in bringing spreadsheets and drawings to life, and her passion for the industry has only grown to inspire other young women in the built environment to pursue a career in construction. At Multiplex, Thalita has benefited from the support of both peers and senior members of the business, who have encouraged and supported her development at each step. She feels she has a “Multiplex Network” she can turn to for advice and guidance. Many of these relationships were built through working on projects together and through initiatives, such as the Multiplex UK Women’s Network and leadership training programs. Her journey hasn’t been without challenges. Moving from Brazil to the UK in 2017 presented its own set of obstacles, but with the support of mentors and colleagues, Thalita was able to grow and thrive. Thalita is now passionate about inspiring and supporting the next generation of women in construction. Whether it’s helping young women navigate their career path, offering guidance to those changing roles, or considering global mobility, Thalita is committed to empowering others and ensuring that women have a strong presence in the built environment.

This International Women’s Day, we’re proud to highlight Marta Pallares Baron, VDC Manager at Multiplex Canada. With over 10 years of experience, Marta’s career journey has taken her from Multiplex UK to Canada through our mobility program, demonstrating her adaptability and commitment to growth. A strong advocate for mentorship and empowerment, Marta was inspired by the guidance of a female mentor early in her career. Now, she pays it forward—mentoring and supporting young women in construction, encouraging them to pursue leadership roles in a traditionally male-dominated industry. “Working in a male-dominated environment was one of the biggest challenges of my career,” says Marta. “When I joined Multiplex, they assigned me a mentor that happened to be a woman. That was a first time in my life that I had someone higher up than me that was a woman – I really learnt a lot from that.” Marta’s passion for making an impact extends beyond her role. She was the only woman who participated among her Multiplex colleagues in a cycling challenge for Chickenshed, helping raise over £50,000 to support children facing isolation. She has also taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, hiking the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales within 24 hours, a test that combined her love for sport with fundraising. Marta believes that women can take on any challenge they set their minds to and leads by example, inspiring the next generation of female leaders in construction.

As a Construction Manager overseeing some of Victoria’s biggest projects, Amy Pitchford is an incredible role model to celebrate this International Women’s Day. In her 18 years at Multiplex, Amy has not only become known for exceptional project delivery, but also for her passion for driving initiatives to increase the participation of women in our business. Through her role as a Chair of the Building Equality Committee in Victoria, she’s also using her experience to help to push for broader industry change. As a construction leader and a working mum, Amy knows all too well some of the challenges still facing women in the industry. “One of the biggest challenges at the mid-point of my career was the thought of starting a family while working as a Project Manager. I was really struggling to see how it would be possible to able to balance both. There weren’t many examples of it in the industry at that time,” says Amy. “I was incredibly lucky to have the support of a Regional Director that helped map out a plan for my return that would not only work for me, but also for the business. In the end, my career wasn’t set back by taking parental leave - it’s actually thrived.” Now as a senior leader in our Victorian business, Amy has used her role to support not only more women, but also more men to balance their careers with family. “One of the things I’m most proud of at Multiplex now is our parental leave offering, which is demonstrated by the number of men that are now opting to take primary careers leave. That’s the type of culture change that is really going to shift the dial.”

These are the women leading construction projects across the globe 💪 Retaining women at the midpoint of their careers remains one of the biggest challenges in our industry and one of our key focuses as a business. This International Women’s Day, we want to highlight some of the amazing women shaping the future of construction. You can’t be what you can’t see. And with participation of women in construction sitting at just under 11% globally, women role models in the industry are more important than ever. Keep an eye out as we share career stories from some of our senior women across the week, highlighting what has helped them not only stay in construction but thrive.

Welcome to site Captain Jack McKinnon! As part of a collaborative partnership with the 12th Chief Engineer Works unit of the Australian Defence Force, the Army Project Engineer will swap his cams for civilian clothing to work on our Market Square project in Adelaide for the next 12 months. The placement allows the Australian Army’s engineers to gain valuable construction experience in projects not typically undertaken by the Army - and with a huge pipeline of Defence infrastructure projects in the works, it’s a great opportunity to share knowledge and expertise across our respective organisations. All the best on site Jack! ICD Property
