In a recent blog post, Professor Linda Graham and I from QUT’s Centre for Inclusive Education challenge the Australian Senate Inquiry’s push for a ‘Behaviour Curriculum’ aimed at reducing classroom disruptions. We argue that this recommendation overly simplifies the complex nature of student behaviour, particularly overlooking the needs of specific students, such as those with ADHD, by not accounting for the diverse factors influencing behaviour. Instead, we advocate for the adoption of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), proposing a more holistic educational approach. In our piece, we suggest implementing SEL through a multi-tiered, systematic approach to ensure it reaches all students and is integrated into various aspects of their lives, including the classroom, school, family, and community. Furthermore, we highlight the necessity for an educational paradigm shift towards inclusivity and comprehensive support for all students, challenging the efficacy of conventional disciplinary approaches. I am… 💫 Successful 💫 Unique 💫 Smart 💫 Powerful Affirmations can be especially important for children, as they help build self-esteem and foster a positive mindset from a young age. By encouraging children to repeat affirmations, we can support their emotional development and empower them to believe in their abilities, which can contribute to a strong foundation for their future growth and success.

Children must never work for our love; they must rest in it. In a world that constantly demands more, let's teach our kids that their value isn't tied to their achievements. Social and Emotional Learning isn't just about education; it's about nurturing hearts and minds to understand, express, and connect. Let's fill their lives with love, understanding, and the confidence to be themselves. Because when love leads the way, the journey is beautiful.

Did you know we have bundles? 🤩 Meet our Auslan Bundle! Our Auslan Bundle offers a curated collection of our two Auslan resources, designed to bridge the gap between emotional understanding and the unique language of Australian Sign Language (Auslan). Included in the Auslan Bundle My Zones of Feelings Auslan Edition Flash Cards: Drawing from the foundational Zones of Regulation by Leah Kuypers, these cards offer a set of 38 flashcards tailored to enhance emotional understanding through four coloured zones: blue, green, yellow, and red. These zones offer a structured approach for children, assisting them in recognising and categorising their emotional states. Auslan Affirmation Cards: Our Auslan Affirmation Cards feature empowering affirmations paired with their corresponding signs, allowing young people to express themselves using their hands and deepen their understanding of language and self-expression. This resource fosters emotional intelligence and a sense of belonging, encouraging children to embrace their strengths and celebrate diversity. #mylearningtoolbox #bundle #auslan #affirmationcards #feelingscards
