Road. Rail. Ports. Airports. We're developing new knowledge, innovation, standards & specifications for Australia & NZ.
About us
NTRO – the National Transport Research Organisation – is developing new knowledge, innovation, standards and specifications in moving people and freight for Australia and New Zealand. Formerly the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB), NTRO now works across road, rail, ports and airports. We collaborate with all levels of government, transport agencies, consultants, and private sector organisations on all aspects of transport and mobility - road, rail, ports and airports. We deliver transport solutions that are safer, more sustainable and value-for-money. We provide the portal through which Australia and New Zealand's transport research is conducted. As the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB), we delivered more than 60 years’ continuous service to the road and transport sectors of Australia and New Zealand. Now we have transitioned to NTRO, but we continue the uninterrupted service for the transport sector as we formalise our work within the rail, ports and airports spaces to better serve the transport sector's needs.

NTRO’s Intelligent Pavement Assessment Vehicles (iPAVEs) are busy traversing Australia and New Zealand measuring and managing road infrastructure. This week we’ve had an NTRO iPAVE in Canberra, and couldn’t resist the opportunity to snap it passing the iconic Parliament House building. From here, it’s off to Adelaide so keep an eye out for this engineering masterpiece on its travels. #iPAVE #infrastructure #measurement #NTRO
