We raise funds for research into this aggressive childhood cancer because every child deserves the chance to grow up.

About us

Neuroblastoma takes the lives of more children under five than any other cancer. The average age of diagnosis is only two years old and the survival rate of aggressive neuroblastoma is sadly just 50%. It may shock you to realise that childhood cancer is under-funded. They are generally 'rare', so the cost of creating new drugs and treatments is not considered 'commercial'. Current treatments (which are only partially effective), are terribly toxic and as a result, one third of the children who survive the cancer will have long term side effects from the treatments. In 2010 Neuroblastoma Australia was started by families and friends affected by neuroblastoma. Since then, we have raised over $2.1 million for research into better, kinder and more effective treatments for this childhood cancer. We still have a long way to go. Neuroblastoma Australia is a registered charity (with GDR status) and we have many opportunities for both individuals and businesses to make a huge impact. For our major events such as Run2Cure Neuroblastoma (www.run2cure.org.au/) which will be held in Sydney's iconic Domain on Sunday 2 June in 2019, we have sponsorships, volunteering opportunities and incentives to encourage corporate teams to participate. We are registered with a variety of online portals (such as www.gofundraise.com.au, www.good2give.ngo, www.goodcompany.com.au, www.mycause.com.au and www.everydayhero.com/au) to make workplace giving, individual fundraising and volunteering easy for our supporters. If you, or your business, are interested in supporting us in any way, please contact our president and founder Lucy Jones via Lucy.Jones@nb.org.au

  • If you have witnessed childhood cancer you know how important it is that more is done for the children - better and safer treatments are urgently needed. Leni Karageorgiou took on this challenge and sent out over 3000 emails to businesses asking for their support for our Melbourne fun run, Run2Cure taking place this weekend in ALBERT PARK. We have smashed the target for sign ups and are now chasing our fundraising goal ! Thank you Leni Karageorgiou for your tireless commitment ! And creating a huge silent auction with amazing items - details below . There’s still time to come to the event www.run2cure.org.au or place a bid on one of the silent auction items

International Engagement coordinator Mum of three, including Oli who was diagnosed with the insidious Childhood Cancer Neuroblastoma at 2 years old Forever advocating

Prior to landing my fantastic role as International Engagement Coordinator with AusIMM, Lucy Jones from Neuroblastoma Australia asked me to assist with organising this year's Melbourne Run2Cure, and engage with local individuals and businesses to gain support for the event. I spent months reaching out to countless groups (I think I sent over 3000 messages and emails), and I received responses from many very generous people who offered to sponsor, donate items and participate on the day. I know what a tough time it is for so many, so even a response acknowledging my message meant a lot. We are looking forward to this Sunday, and to assist reach (and hopefully surpass) the target of $150,000, this silent auction has been put together with 200 of the donations received for the event (the rest are being used for prizes on the day): The link to the auction is - https://lnkd.in/g4nmWYUE To register or donate to the event - https://lnkd.in/gCHfdMcj Thank you to Lucy Jones for giving me this opportunity, I have learnt SO much not only professionally, but also the little things - like how a quick response acknowledging you have received a message can make a big difference to the efforts of people working in the charity sector. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support Childhood Cancer and Neuroblastoma. Being told your child has 50% chance of survival, witnessing the treatment and its side effects, and of course knowing the heartbreaking fact that so many children don't survive, it's not okay. • Great fundraising event for the charity and so grateful to Chelsea Mayoh for speaking about the challenges of immunotherapy and how to make treatments more effective for neuroblastoma. Great to agree we need to get ahead of the symptoms rather than wait for them..

  • Always great to get a willing hand or two ! Thanks to two awesome volunteers this week who helped us get ready for our next fun run event, Run2Cure Melbourne, despite the drizzle !

Yesterday I had the privilege of using my charity day to help Neuroblastoma Australia as they prepare for their Melbourne Run2Cure on Sunday 10th November We spent the day organising all the equipment ready for it to be taken down to Melbourne. It wasn’t the best weather but we got the job done. After moving multiple gazebos I was really regretting my gym session that morning 😂On the bright side I slept well last night!! Neuroblastoma is a charity set up by Lucy Jones who tragically lost her daughter to neuroblastoma at the age of 2. She has worked tirelessly since to raise awareness and funds for this incredibly cruel childhood cancer. Thank you Launch Talent Solutions for allowing me the opportunity to help such a great cause. I = Immunotherapy 🧬🎯 Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that helps the body’s immune system fight cancer, by training the immune system to find and target cancerous cells. The ANZCHOG #Leukaemia & #Lymphoma Group recently published a position statement on the use of blinatumomab (a type of immunotherapy drug) in infants, children and adolescents with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia Blinatumomab works by targeting a certain protein on the leukaemia cells so that the immune system can recognise them. Results from two pivotal paediatric frontline studies have now shown significant improvement in survival outcomes with the addition of blinatumomab to chemotherapy for both infants and children. C is for CAR-T Cell Therapy - also known as Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T Cell Therapy 🔬 CAR-T Cell Therapy has been used in Australia to treat children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) where standard therapies were unsuccessful. It works by taking a patient’s T cells (a type of immune cell) and altering them in a laboratory so they will then bind to and destroy cancer cells. #ANZCHOG #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth
