If you have witnessed childhood cancer you know how important it is that more is done for the children - better and safer treatments are urgently needed. Leni Karageorgiou took on this challenge and sent out over 3000 emails to businesses asking for their support for our Melbourne fun run, Run2Cure taking place this weekend in ALBERT PARK. We have smashed the target for sign ups and are now chasing our fundraising goal ! Thank you Leni Karageorgiou for your tireless commitment ! And creating a huge silent auction with amazing items - details below . There’s still time to come to the event www.run2cure.org.au or place a bid on one of the silent auction items
International Engagement coordinator Mum of three, including Oli who was diagnosed with the insidious Childhood Cancer Neuroblastoma at 2 years old Forever advocating
Prior to landing my fantastic role as International Engagement Coordinator with AusIMM, Lucy Jones from Neuroblastoma Australia asked me to assist with organising this year's Melbourne Run2Cure, and engage with local individuals and businesses to gain support for the event. I spent months reaching out to countless groups (I think I sent over 3000 messages and emails), and I received responses from many very generous people who offered to sponsor, donate items and participate on the day. I know what a tough time it is for so many, so even a response acknowledging my message meant a lot. We are looking forward to this Sunday, and to assist reach (and hopefully surpass) the target of $150,000, this silent auction has been put together with 200 of the donations received for the event (the rest are being used for prizes on the day): The link to the auction is - https://lnkd.in/g4nmWYUE To register or donate to the event - https://lnkd.in/gCHfdMcj Thank you to Lucy Jones for giving me this opportunity, I have learnt SO much not only professionally, but also the little things - like how a quick response acknowledging you have received a message can make a big difference to the efforts of people working in the charity sector. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support Childhood Cancer and Neuroblastoma. Being told your child has 50% chance of survival, witnessing the treatment and its side effects, and of course knowing the heartbreaking fact that so many children don't survive, it's not okay.
