For those interested, this map is called the Spilhaus projection, produced in 1942 by South African oceanographer Athelstan Spilhaus as a way to show the world’s oceans as a single body of water.     Well log substitution Amongst the requirements to generate a synthetic seismogram at a well are sonic (DT) and density (RHOB) logs. A particular case is discussed here where operational issues resulted in a gap in coverage in these logs. Rather that relying on equations such as Gardner/Faust, alternate logs were used to infill the missing coverage. All work was carried out in #Python using the very handy #Welly open project created by Agile* (while they were still operational).     Having seen both the GPEG500 and WD1400 sources in action on a recent project, in addition to their operational advantages, the depth-of-penetration for imaging was a pleasant surprise. Looking forward to seeing how the new sources perform!

    We're thrilled to announce the expansion of our weight drop offerings!   Building on the success of our GPEG500 and custom-designed WD1400, we're introducing two new weight drops – expanding on the shallower and deeper imaging options.   We’re soon to the deploy our new bespoke "little thumper", fondly nicknamed "Bambi”, and are excited about what we believe she will add for shallower imaging.   And we're eagerly awaiting the arrival of our largest weight-drop yet, incorporating the AF750. With data examples already available to share from its work in New Zealand, we can’t wait to include it in our up-coming seismic projects.   Brendon is heading to Perth in May for the Australian Energy Producers Conference.     Land Multiples Strong surface multiples are generally considered to be more of an issue in marine seismic data than land data. However, onshore examples also exist. Below is one such case with strongly reflective coals causing what looks to be an obvious surface multiple. A couple of quick diagnostic tests to further investigate this suspicion are also outlined. Much more can be said about multiples, and fortunately much has already been written about them. Some helpful references can be found in the comments.
