About us
NewPsych Psychologists offers people the opportunity to get the most out of life. We are a team of psychologists, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, couples and family therapists - and an amazing support team - who work together to help people like you bring about change. We're based in Newcastle and our team is available in numerous locations throughout NSW. As an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider, we work closely with organisations large and small to provide effective workplace solutions, such as counselling for employees and their families, critical incident response, organisational changes, psychosocial risk assessments, coaching, education and training, mediation and innovative wellbeing programs. Everyone experiences tough times. We know that talking things through with a trusted, skilled professional can help you think differently and also enable you to take action, both of which promote a positive influence on your happiness and wellbeing. We understand that everyone has different needs, so at NewPsych we help you develop a unique solution to your particular situation. Change is sometimes difficult, but we know that people can do it, because we are privileged to see people make amazing life changes every day. Life's busy and we all cram so much in. Many people take care of everyone else, and too often you put themselves last. At NewPsych we make sure that you take the time to look after yourself, because self-care and compassion are vital to helping you do the things that are truly important to you. So take the first step towards building the kind of life that you really value. This isn't just about today. It's about the rest of your life. It’s #Movember! An important time to unite for men’s health. We’re working towards a world where men take action for their health, including their mental wellbeing, and are supported by those around them. The rate of male suicide is alarmingly high: 3 out of 4 suicides in Australia are by men. The issue of suicide is incredibly complex, but we know that breaking down stigma, speaking up and taking action early when times are tough can reduce the risk. #mentalheath #wellbeing #eap #makehappycontagious

Hope is often seen as a vague or ‘wishy-washy’ concept. A 2020 study ran by the University of Michigan and Harvard University found that people with a greater sense of hope had better physical health and health behaviour outcomes, including fewer chronic conditions, lower risk of cancer and fewer sleep problems. Read Tarnya Davis' article, featured in this weekend's Newcastle Herald, on how creating hope is an active process that propels us to make positive changes. #mentalhealth #wellbeing #eap #livewellbeyondgood

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, highlighting the vital connections between mental health and work. Safe, healthy working environments can be protective factors for mental health. Unhealthy environments including stigma, discrimination, harassment and other poor working conditions – can pose significant risks. This can affect mental health, overall quality of life and participation or productivity at work. It’s essential for employers and practices like NewPsych to work together to improve mental health at work. By investing efforts and resources in evidence-based approaches and interventions at work, we can ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive at work and in life. For more than 25 years, we’re proud to be the trusted EAP partner for more than 100 organisations of all sizes in a wide range of industries such as mining, manufacturing and heavy industry, education, not-for-profit, disability, health and aged care, government, real estate and professional services. Let's take action today for a healthier future for all! #mentalheath #wellbeing #eap #psychosocialrisk #makehappycontagious #livewellbeyondgood #wmh24
