Australia, It’s About Bloody Time! Day four at #TheIdeasDome, powered by The Growth Distillery, took on one of Australia’s most pressing health issues — endometriosis — and the lack of support for women across the country. Today’s session, led by news.com.au Editor Kerry Warren, Senior Reporter Lexie Cartwright, and facilitator Liz Burke, built on the success of the #AboutBloodyTime campaign, which has brought specialist support closer to over one million Australians living with endometriosis. This conversation was a reminder that while progress has been made, there’s still work to do — especially for women in regional Australia. Just two months after its launch, the Federal Government committed $49.1 million to tackle #endometriosis. Starting July 1, 2025, women with endometriosis will benefit from longer specialist consultations of 45 minutes or more, fully covered under Medicare. Launched in March this year by news.com.au, the campaign featured a powerful and personal video led by senior reporter Lexie Cartwright, who herself suffers from endometriosis. The video, which garnered more than 4.4 million views across news.com.au and its social media channels, played a pivotal role in the campaign’s success. In recognition of the campaign’s impact, news.com.au Editor Kerry Warren and former Editor-in-Chief Lisa Muxworthy were honoured with the Social Changemaker award at the B&T Women in Media Awards in August. Let’s keep the momentum going and push for better healthcare policies that give all women the care they deserve, no matter where they live. Today, we celebrate the artistry and impact of four incredible photographers: Adam Head QNP from The Courier-Mail, Micheal Klein and Jason Edwards from the Herald Sun, and Tim Hunter from The Daily Telegraph. They say a picture tells a thousand words, and this year’s Photograph of the Year goes to Micheal Klein for his stunning shot, “Kaylee McKeown’s Moment.” At the Paris Olympics, Kaylee became only the second woman to defend her 100m backstroke title, and Michael’s photo beautifully captures her gold medal victory. This moment is especially poignant, as Kaylee dedicated her win to her late father, feeling his spirit with her as she touched the wall. With her family by her side in Paris, Michael’s image reflects both personal triumph and the joy of a nation during the Games’ first week. Michael is also a finalist for the News Awards’ Photographer of the Year, competing against his talented Herald Sun colleagues David Caird and Jake Nowakowski. The winner will be revealed at our live event next Tuesday, so stay tuned!

🔑 Unlocking Consumer Insights: How Technographics is Revolutionising Marketing Strategy News Corp Australia brought to SXSW Sydney an essential session for marketers, #Technographics, led by The Growth Distillery, on how technology can better predict consumer behaviour than traditional demographics like #age or #gender. The standout session, led by Dan Krigstein, Director of The Growth Distillery alongside Rikki Pearce, Managing Director of VERVE, explored how Australians’ #tech usage impacts shopping choices. Attendees learned how this insight provides a more effective lens for designing customer journeys and increasing shopper value. Key insights from Technographics: 📉 81%: Australia has the highest online shopping basket abandonment rate in the world. 🚨 75% of Australians fear scams, data leaks, and the growing societal impact of technology. 🔄 Consumer loyalty is harder to secure as shoppers experiment more with brands. 📊 Traditional metrics are failing, and Technographics could fill the gap by aligning better with consumer needs. Krigstein emphasised that marketers have long relied on outdated traits to guide where and when brands show up, overlooking the increasing mistrust of technology and failing to align with consumer expectations. Pearce echoed this, highlighting how marketing effectiveness has dramatically declined as consumers seek new nudges to encourage #purchasing behaviour. Keen to stay ahead of the marketing curve? Stay tuned, the Technographics report is coming out later this month and it’ll change the way brands think and appeal to consumers.
