About us

Led by Townsville Enterprise Limited, a not-for-profit peak economic development body, the North Queensland Hydrogen Consortium (NQH2) will provide concierge and facilitation services to support a complete, end to end, hydrogen ecosystem which will advance North Queensland as a major hydrogen contender in both the domestic and international marketplaces. An emerging renewable hydrogen industry in North Queensland offers exceptional opportunities for a collaborative hydrogen industry ecosystem to generate more jobs, advanced manufacturing and could be a catalyst for the growth of small business capability and skills in the renewables sector and other flow on industries. NQH2 Consortium is being established to help provide the momentum and connections that are required to enable a productive and successful end to end supply chain ecosystem, delivering benefits locally, nationally and internationally.

  • Amazing news! Ark Energy's investment in MacIntyre Wind Farm marks a significant step towards sustainable energy and decarbonization. Excited to witness the future of renewable energy unfold 👏 #greenenergy #townsvillenorthqueensland #NQH2

Ark Energy, Korea Zinc’s subsidiary, has made a financial investment decision through its affiliate Ark Energy MacIntyre Pty Ltd to acquire 30% of the utility-scale MacIntyre Wind Farm located in Queensland, Australia. MacIntyre Wind Farm is currently under construction and being developed by ACCIONA Energia, a subsidiary of ACCIONA, a Madrid based energy company. The construction of the 162-wind turbine facility commenced in March 2022 is now 80% complete and full commercial operation is scheduled to commence in August 2025. At the time of its commissioning, MacIntyre Wind Farm will be the largest onshore wind farm in Australia and one of the largest around the world. With this financial investment decision, Ark Energy secures 30% of the project’s 923.4MW generation capacity. Approximately 30% of this will be supplied to Korea Zinc’s Sun Metals zinc refinery in north Queensland, Australia. A Korea Zinc official said, “The investment in MacIntyre Wind Farm will accelerate the decarbonization of Korea Zinc’s Australian businesses and the realization of the Troika Drive initiative.”
