On Tuesday, the Office of Sport put down their pens and picked up an ice-cream scoop, enjoying an array of yummy ice-cream and delicious toppings! 🍨 🍦 The event was hosted by the social club to recognise World Mental Health Month and was a chance to come together with colleagues and enjoy a quick chat! This event is one of many on offer to staff during World Mental Health Month! It's also an important reminder to take care of your mental wellbeing, especially within your workplace. During the school holidays, Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre hosted twenty-five young people who were completing their Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, Gold Residential Project, from across NSW. 😎 The group of Framework Users who attended, engaged in leadership and community building activities throughout their stay, whilst participating in traditional camp activities such as canoeing, mountain bikes and campfires! 🔥 Together with Jindabyne Trail Stewardship, the group assisted in maintaining sections of Jindabyne's community mountain bike trail network. Everyone got their hands dirty tidying up the trails in the local area ensuring they are ready to ride for all who visit the region! Today is National Ride2Work Day, an event that encourages people to commute to work by bike! 🚴♂️ To celebrate, we thought it was a wheeley good idea to share Simon's story! 👇 Earlier in the year, Office of Sport staff member Simon, clocked up over 40,075kms on his pushbike commuting to work... the equivalent of circumventing the planet! 🌏 Simon has been riding the same bike to work for over a decade (almost 12 years in fact!) with the same tachometer registering his kms every day! 🚲 A group of staff were there to help Simon celebrate this milestone! Well done Simon, we can't wait to see what the next 40,000+ kms look like! 💪

Today is International Day of the Girl, so we thought it was only fitting to highlight the wonderful work of Rebecca Reynolds and the team at City of Parramatta for their recent Girls in Sport Day. The annual event was attended by 250 high school aged girls from the Parramatta Council area, with numerous sports getting involved. Well done to the wonderful Kerry Turner from the Office of Sport for hosting the panel session and interviewing the athletes on the day!

Last week, in partnership with Surfing NSW, we hit the waves as participants from Surfing with the Mob took to Pambula Beach, NSW! 🏄 Surfing NSW delivered training to local First Nations surfers, providing them with the skills and knowledge to become accredited surf coaches. 🌊 As part of the Program all participants completed a fitness test consisting of a run, swim, run, paddle and run as well as a 200m swim that they were required to finish in less than five minutes. ✅ To support Surfing with the Mob to deliver future programs, the Office of Sport has provided surfboards, wetsuits and a trailer!
