This morning there was a significant announcement from the Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning Prue Car. A big step forward in re-establishing the trust and respect for teaching professionals in NSW. Reinstating control for Principals and teachers, to manage the professional learning they need, is a great boost. The bonus is this will also reduce workload and allow teachers to concentrate on teaching! https://lnkd.in/gU8SJGkE

NSW Public Primary Schools provide outstanding opportunities for high-performing students across a huge range of areas from debating to art to sports and many more. The strength of our system is having 1800 primary schools connected to provide multiple pathways to success. Nicole Hackett (now Nicole Barry) attended Terrigal Public School and Terrigal High School. She remembers that she was provided with many opportunities to try a range of different sports and also the chance to play team and individual sports. She knows that being in a public school allowed her to move on to higher levels of success and opened up the experience of performing at the highest levels. Nicole went on to win the world championship for triathlon in 2000, represented Australia at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and won a bronze medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Nicole is proud to continue to belong to NSW Public Education and Terrigal Public School as an amazing school administration officer.
