“When you’re at a low point in life, kindness is the guiding light that gets you out.”    We celebrated International Women’s Day at Optus this year with a lineup of events centred on a memorable keynote from NSW Australian of the Year Kath Koschel.    As we reflected on this year’s theme ‘March Forward,’ Kath’s story about the transformative power of kindness, which got her through unimaginable hardship, had a profound impact on many.    Paired with the incredible lineup of events on offer, including roundtable mentoring with Optus leaders, a networking breakfast, financial and mindfulness workshops and more, it was an impactful day driven by our women’s network Elevate. #IWD2025 #MarchForward #OptusLife

“Connectivity is incredibly important to the success of any business today. It’s something really lovely, to know that someone is listening to us and really putting the priorities of a regional business at the forefront," says Emily Swift. Giving small business owners like Printhie Wines the opportunity to learn from experts and share experiences is what the Optus Small Business Council is all about. The Sydney500 kicked off the V8 supercar season for our small business customer and partner Walkinshaw Andretti United. WAU relies on the Optus network to transmit the data and telemetry from the car to the pits. We also demonstrated some cutting-edge technology in a live environment in the form of a 5G network slice that was run over our 5G+ network, allowing fans to listen into the radio chatter between Chaz Mostert and his engineer over Optus' 5G+ as part of the experience. Trevor Long joined us on one of the race days and explains what we showcased on Two Blokes Talking Tech.

With Cyclone Alfred expected to hit south-east Queensland and northern NSW this week, our teams are on the ground preparing. Our fixed and mobile generators are ready to deploy, a SatCat is stationed in Brisbane to provide emergency coverage, we have extra personnel ready to assist, and we are working closely with the relevant agencies.     While we will work to restore any impacted services as soon as possible, here are some tips to stay safe and connected during an extreme weather event:     📞 Have your emergency phone numbers saved in your phone and written down.    📱 Make sure your phone battery is fully charged, and conserve power by closing all unnecessary apps in the background and putting your phone on power saving mode. Charge any mobile battery packs.    ☁️ Back up your data in the cloud so you don’t lose important photos and other data.    ⚠️ Know the location of your local evacuation centre and emergency meeting spots, including different ways to get there in case of a road blockage.    For more information about staying connected during a disaster: https://lnkd.in/gA29eYs7

The Blind Sea, a documentary that tells the story of Optus team member and World Champion blind surfer Matt Formston’s determination to surf the 50ft monster waves of Nazaré, is now available on Netflix.    As a valued member of the Optus team for over 20 years and co-chair of the Optus Disability Network, Matt is passionate about defying expectations in all aspects of his life.    “To the people who have a disability, I want to show them some of the processes I use to find a way through life’s obstacles. And to the people who don’t have a disability, I want to show them that having a disability doesn’t mean a lifetime of limitations. If I’ve been able to do the things I have with a disability, then maybe we’re all capable of more than other people would like us to believe,” says Matt.    Congratulations to Matt and Brick Studios Australia on this achievement. #TheBlindSea #Netflix
