We are a community kitchen with the “soul” purpose of bringing people and their communities closer together. We create an environment which marries people who want to contribute their time and services to those in need. Our aim is to facilitate companies and organisations to contribute to communities, whilst allowing them to grow and develop their teams and employees through corporate social awareness programs. Getting tired of the same old team building initiatives? Had enough of white water rafting, camping and other extreme sports? Well we have a new and fantastic way for you to create a sense of cohesiveness and togetherness with your employees or colleagues. There is no better way to bring unity to a group and allow them to work as a team than letting them cook together! We can design a program to suit your needs. Our Big Kitchen can provide a facility for your team building or social responsibility program. It’s fun, interactive and a great opportunity for teams to learn about role sharing, contribution and the benefits of working together. Last Friday 8th Nov was a confronting yet fulfilling day of volunteering for myself and my team, AMP Cyber Defence Centre, supporting a great cause with Our Big Kitchen in partnership with AMP Foundation. While preparing 150 meals may be a drop in the ocean as there is definitely more work to do, I am immensely proud of my team for taking the time and contributing towards about 6000 meals that week for those in need. Kuddos to the OBK and AMP Foundation for all the great work you do! Last night, a group of us in Sydney volunteered at Our Big Kitchen (OBK) to cook 100 meals for those in need. Our meals, along with the other 600 made yesterday, headed off to Newcastle this morning to be distributed to families struggling to put food on the table. It was incredibly rewarding to give back to the community and to spend time with the team competing in a Masterchef-style competition. If you don't know about OBK, it's an incredible charity dedicated to feeding, educating and empowering people in need. Each year, the organisation prepares and distributes over 250,000 meals to the homeless and handles 60,000 kilograms of donated food that would otherwise go to waste. There are two major problems in this country: 7.6m tonnes of food goes to waste every year, while at least 270,000 Australians are going hungry. OBK is the bridge between these two problems 💛 and we loved being there to lend a hand last night. #OBK #GivingBack #Community #VersionUp
