OzFish Unlimited is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to helping the millions of Aussie recreational fishers take control of the health of their rivers, lakes and estuaries and shore up the future of the sport they love. OzFish Unlimited partners with fishers and the broader community to invest time and money into the protection and restoration of our waterways, counteracting decades of degradation. OzFish works with fishers to make local fishing grounds healthy, vibrant and more productive. Share ideas on how to improve, restore and protect fish habitat. Seek grants and support for hands-on habitat restoration and provide events, resources, education and research that support fishing groups to achieve local outcomes.

We’re improving our urban waterways! 🐟 Our Government’s $1.5m investment into Saltwater creek will not only improve habitat for birds and wildlife, or improve fish stock for local fishermen but it will also improve the quality of water out on the Reef. After the significant flooding of the Murray River in 2022-23, water conditions became uninhabitable for Freshwater Murray Crayfish, prompting a rescue operation by community groups, volunteers and state government agencies to save the species. The recovery teams worked to relocate as many crayfish as possible, with plans to reintroduce them once the waterway was safe. OzFish, alongside our dedicated volunteers and community, played an important role in capturing and releasing the crayfish back into the Murray River, marking a major environmental effort to restore the local ecosystem.
