🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 We’re thrilled to announce that Pacific Energy has been awarded Project of the Year at the prestigious Engineers Australia awards in Melbourne! 🏆 Our team was recognised for the outstanding work on the Swinburne University of Technology Victorian Hydrogen Hub – CSIRO Hydrogen Refuelling Station. This project, launched in November 2023, was designed, constructed and commissioned by Pacific Energy. Its innovative compact and integrated design provides a scalable solution for the production and dispensing of green hydrogen for fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) and demonstrates the potential for hydrogen to decarbonise transport in Australia. This accolade follows our strategic move to strengthen our east coast presence, with the Connected Energy (PEC) division now headquartered in Melbourne. Mark Sinclair, Managing Director of Connected Energy, expressed his pride: “I’m incredibly proud of the team and their well-deserved recognition with this award. We’ve signed our first east coast BESS deal with Brisbane Airport Corporation! We’ll be designing, manufacturing and commissioning a 336kWh customised battery energy storage system, which will be delivered as a part of our client’s sustainability-focused pilot program to learn about this future-proofing tech in a consumer energy resources (CER) setting. The program will trial the benefits of battery storage in Brisbane Airports electrical network, including maximum demand reduction, storage of excess solar generation and power quality support. CER is expected to play a major role in Australia’s energy transition, and we’re excited to be a part of this important project that will help create an energy system that is reducing emissions and costs and increasing flexibility and reliability. Our Pacific Energy Connected Managing Director, Mark Sinclair, and #Hydrogen expert, Deepak Mistry, recently delivered a #greenhydrogen presentation to Year 12 chemistry students studying electrolysis at John Monash Science School in Victoria. More than 100 students and teachers took part in the session, which also included a hands-on Toyota H2 FCEV (fuel cell electric vehicle) demo. At Pacific Energy, we’re committed to educating young Australians about the importance of the energy transition and providing them with opportunities to explore the exciting innovations driving the change. We want to inspire them to take a chance on a career in energy and join us to help shape the future of this critical sector. ✨ NECA Excellence Award Winners ✨ We’re so proud of our team for taking out two NECA WA Excellence Awards and two high commendations at WA’s electrical & comms industry’s night of nights. And to really supercharge the occasion, our superstar electrical apprentice, Nic Copeland, took out the Fourth Year Commercial/Domestic Apprentice of the Year Award for the state! 💚 We were awarded the Green Energy Excellence Award for our four build-own-operate hybrid power systems for Westgold Resources Limited’s Mid West operations. This innovative project replaced six diesel-powered systems with four solar-BESS-LNG systems (each with hydrocarbons-off capabilities), which are expected to offset 38 million litres of diesel each year and lower annual carbon emissions by almost 57,000 tonnes. 🔋We also took out the Large Industrial Award for our network-integrated BESS for Fortescue’s Solomon and North Star mine sites. At time of delivery, this was one of the world’s largest network-connected grid forming BESS developed for a mining application and one of the most technologically advanced BESS projects we had ever delivered. We were also highly commended in the Innovation category for the Denham Hydrogen Demonstration Plant that we delivered for Horizon Power, and in the Small Industrial category for our Roy Hill Rapid-deploy Stand-alone Power System. Needless to say, we’re incredibly proud of everyone who has contributed to these world-class projects, and of Nic for his outstanding efforts throughout his apprenticeship. It’s so great to see their hard work, innovations and achievements being recognised on this important industry stage. Australia’s largest off-grid hybrid power system at AngloGold Ashanti Australia and Regis Resources Ltd’s Tropicana Gold Mine has marked its first major milestones, including Stage One energisation and the delivery of wind turbine components to site. This massive project will see the expansion of our existing gas-powered system to include 24MW of #wind, 24MW of #solar, and a 13MW BESS, bringing the system size to over 115MW. This industry-leading set up will integrate our Pacific Energy-designed intelligent control system to optimise input from the high penetration renewables and storage technologies and allow the system to run hydrocarbons-free for extended periods of time. Our renewables integration is also expected to reduce AngloGold Ashanti’s diesel and gas consumption for Tropicana’s power generation by 96% and 50% respectively, slashing carbon emissions by an average of 65,000 tonnes per annum over the life of our 10-year agreement. There’s been an enormous amount of work delivered by our specialised teams over the past nine months to help us reach our first milestones.
